Week of October 21st
Red Ribbon Week is this week!
Red Ribbon Week is a drug and violence prevention awareness campaign that takes place every October in the United States. It's the country's longest-running and largest drug awareness and prevention program.
The campaign began in 1985 as a tribute to DEA special agent Enrique Camerena who had fallen
We will be doing a themed week this week for ALL to participate in. See themes below:
Monday: Wear head to toe red to say no to drugs and get Red Ribbon Week started
Tuesday: Team up against drugs: Where a sports shirt or jersey
Wednesday: Cougars Care about you: Where McLaughlin Swag or McLaughlin Colors (Blue and yellow)
Thursday: Our Futures are bright because we don't use drugs: Wear your brightest colors
Friday: Follow your dreams: Where school appropriate pajamas to school (no slippers, no robes, no blankets)
Cold weather is here!
Does this picture look familiar (this is noones child @ McLaughlin it is a google image). It's that time of year where it is freezing in the morning and nice in the afternoon. We will be outside unless there is rain, snow, sleete etc. or the temp dips below 25 degrees. Please make sure you check what your child is wearing before they leave the house, sweatshirts, jackets, hats etc are strongly recommended.
If you are in need of a winter coat for your child or hats and gloves please reach out kwilliams@mansd.org and let me know, our fabulous social worker can help with this!
School ID's need to be worn everyday
Students were given their new school ID's in a plastic sleeve and lanyard on Tuesday, October 15th. This ID has their picture from last year, their name and a bar code.
Students are expected to wear these every day. They will need these ID's to scan in the lunch line (it makes getting lunch so much quicker) and they also need to scan them on their buses in the morning and the afternoon.
If a student does not have their ID to get on the bus in the AM or PM the bus driver will not let them on and parents will have to transport.
If a student does not have their ID for the lunch line they will NOT be denied a lunch but will be asked to go to the end of the lunch line and wait for ID's to be scanned. This goes for breakfast as well.
Students who lose their ID will need to see Ms. Morrison in the library for a replacement that will cost $3. Students cannot have their face markered out or the bar code markered out. If they do they will need to buy a replacement ID.
