CMS Update 8.25.23
It's a Great Day to be a Panther!
Hello CMS families,
The building will not be open Labor Day weekend, Sept. 2-4.
Here are a few other tidbits to begin the year:
- Students may view their schedule and locker information on Campus if they do not have a printed copy. Information will be located under the schedule tab and locker tab.
- iPads will be handed out in Advisory on the fist day of school.
- Student ID's: returning 7th and 8th grade students should bring their ID from last year. 6th grade students who attended a ISD194 elementary school will receive their ID in Advisory. These will use this for lunch and book checkout. Students who have lost or misplaced their ID's may request a new copy here.
- We expect students to store backpacks and cell phones in their locker.
- Students may bring a water bottle to school. We have bottle filling stations in each locker bay and our cafeteria. Please write your first and last name on the bottle!
- 6th and 7th grade students, our first day of school will be a "Red" day (this is noted on the student schedule).
- Students who are in Band do NOT need to bring their instrument to the first day of Band.
- For Physical Education, students do NOT need to bring their Red and Black t-shirts to class on the first day. Students will be issued a locker and combination to store their PE gear.
- Families who need to ORDER shirts for PE or planners should do so through Campus School Store. Please also consider making a suggested donation of $25.00 to offset costs for the wheel courses.
Please see the information below and make it a great weekend! It is going to be an amazing school year!

Drop-Off and Pick-Up:
We strongly encourage all students who are able to ride a bus do so if possible. This cuts down on the traffic flow through our parking lot before and after school. Bus route information will be located in Campus (click More tab and then Transportation tab).
Here are some important points to consider if you are dropping off or picking up students:
- Only use the Upper Lot
- Arrive early in the AM to avoid back-ups (drop between 6:55-7:10)
- Arrive late in the PM to avoid back-ups (pick-up between 2:15-2:25)
- Students are able to wait in our cafeteria during these extra times
- We have 3 lanes, the middle lane will remain open as a walkway for students
- Buses have the "right-away" as they move through the lot. Please yield to them.
- Go slow, remain patient and be Minnesota Nice!!!

NEW iPad Device Protection Plan
Students will be receiving an upgraded iPad at the beginning of the 2023-24 school year to support their learning. Lakeville Area Schools is offering a new optional device protection plan for district-issued iPads as part of our 1:1 student learning initiative.
Annual Cost: $25 per student. Reduced price options are available based on Educational Benefit Status.
Coverage begins upon receipt of the payment. Payment must be submitted via the Infinite Campus School Store by October 1, to have coverage for the school year. New families joining the district will have 2 weeks from enrollment to add coverage.
The protection plan does not cover lost devices and lost, stolen, damaged or inoperable charging cords. Please review the details of the device protection plan and payment information on the Digital Learning webpage.
See Something, Say Something
Our school and district are committed to the safety of our students, staff and community. To do so, our entire community needs to work together to stay aware and act quickly when safety concerns arise. If you see something, say something, do something. We always encourage those in our school community to share and report concerns directly with school leaders.
We also have an anonymous tip reporting tool that enables students, staff, parents/guardians and community members to anonymously report student bullying, behavior and safety concerns 24/7, without fear of retribution. The reporting tool allows individuals who submit tips to have anonymous two-way communication with school safety teams. The system provides our students, staff, parents and community members with an easily accessible and anonymous method of reporting any issue of concern, incident or at-risk behavior. Learn more ….
New Parent Portal address (repeat)
The Infinite Campus parent portal website URL has CHANGED.
The new URL is: isd194.infinitecampus.org
If you are also experiencing difficulties with the mobile phone app, try closing out of it and then reopening it. That should restart the app and direct you to re-enter your password and username. If that does not work, try deleting and redownloading your app.
For more information regarding how to use your portal, you can visit our website at: isd194.org/infinite-campus
Crisis Hotline Information: New Statutory Requirement for Grades 6-12 (repeat)
Recently, the state legislature passed a new statute, Minn. Stat. § 121A.35, which mandates that all identification badges and student handbooks/planners for students in grades 6-12 include required crisis hotline information. The purpose of this state legislation is to ensure that communities are equipped with resources to support and help children who are in distress.
Starting this school year, all secondary student identification cards will now have the following required crisis hotline information displayed on the front. A example ID is included:
National Suicide and Crisis LifeLine: 988
Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741
Dakota County Crisis Hotline: 952-891-7171 (calls will be routed accordingly if you reside in Scott County)
We believe that open communication between parents/guardians, school staff, and students is crucial in fostering a safe and nurturing school community. We understand the sensitivity of this legislation and want to be sure you are aware of this new state statute and the school district’s compliance.
In addition to the crisis information noted on the ID to support students after school hours, we highly encourage students and families to connect with our school’s student support specialist to access school-based mental health support and services during school hours as needed.
