Hawthorne Visual Arts with Ms. Mancini
In a creative and imaginative effort, second grade students embarked on an exciting project: creating and illustrating a mixed-up fairy tale. This project allowed students to use their knowledge from Library and STEM class to blend different fairy tale elements and characters, resulting in a unique and captivating story. It encouraged students to think outside the box, blending classic elements with new ideas to create a one-of-a-kind story. This project not only honed their artistic skills but also taught them the importance of collaboration and storytelling.
Kindergarten explored the beauty of autumn by learning various tracing and paint techniques to create vibrant fall leaves. This activity allowed students to develop their fine motor skills and their understanding of painting.
First grade explored liquid watercolor by drawing and painting turkeys. The project began with students sketching their turkeys using shapes and details. Students focused on several liquid watercolor techniques that brought the turkeys to life in a vivid display of color.
Second Grade Writers
Our second grade students are finishing their opinion writing unit. They have been learning how to share their opinions and reasoning within the structure of friendly letters. Students in Ms. Boccio and Ms. Greenberg's class had a writing celebration where they provided specific feedback to each other. They received certificates of recognition for their work as writers.
