Important Information
End of Marking Period 3
DASD will be on spring break for the last week in March. Spring break serves as a valuable opportunity for our students to take a break from academic responsibilities, promoting their overall well-being and mental health.
The Marking Period officially ends on April 2nd, which is the Tuesday after we return from spring break. If you want to give a student an extension over break, you are welcome to do so without requiring that they fill out an extension request form.
DCA Staffing for 24-25 School Year - Part-Time Teachers
We have been getting a few questions from our part-time teachers about next year. Here is how the process works:
- We have staffing discussions with all of the middle and high school building administrators, Dr. Reed, Dr. Chance, and Dr. Duda to determine sections that can be assigned to the DCA. We will know this information by the end of March.
- The building schedulers assign the teachers to the DCA sections. For example, if East has a .2 social studies teacher for the DCA, the East scheduler (Karen Welch) will assign the teacher. Teacher assignments usually don't occur until the end of the school year. The DCA admin can make recommendations, but the teacher assignment it is ultimately up to the building admin. If you're interested in teaching part-time for the DCA again next year, please talk with your building scheduler after #1 has occured.
- The DCA administrators assign all part-time teachers to their courses, not the building administrator. For example, East sends us the .2 social studies teacher, but we decide which class she will teach.
DCA Staffing for 24-25 School Year - Supplemental Teachers
Supplemental teaching positions are not usually posted until the full-time and part-time staffing are finalized. Positions will be posted on the district website and in our newsletter when they become available. Often, these positions are posted over the summer, so please continue to check your DASD email and the internal postings.
We generally have 85%+ registrations occur after August 1st, so many supplemental positions don't occur until the start of the next school year and, sometimes, after school has even started.
Professional Development
March 11th - In-Service Day
Monday, March 11th is a professional development day. Teachers will be working in their curriculum departments in-person for both the morning and afternoon sessions. If you're unsure about where you are supposed to be, please reach out to your principal or your Curriculum Leader.
