Donald Silverman- LBHS Class of 1965
I am excited to introduce you to "Oddball Thoughts", a collection of humorous essays from and about Donald Silverman. This manuscript, consisting of 43,155 words, offers a delightful exploration of life's eccentricities and everyday oddities through a comedic lens. "Oddball Thoughts" invites readers into the quirky mind of Donald Silverman, where mundane moments are transformed into laugh-out-loud narratives. From the misadventures of travel to the peculiarities of family life, Silverman’s essays captivate with their wit, charm, and relatability. His unique voice shines through in pieces like “101 Donald Silvermans,” where a simple trip to the airport evolves into a hilarious contemplation on identity, and “Hiding in Plain Sight,” a humorous take on life during the pandemic. Donald Silverman discovered his writing talent later in life, encouraged by friends who recognized the humor in his everyday communications. What started as a reluctant attendance at a writer’s group has blossomed into a passion for crafting essays that resonate with a broad audience. His ability to find humor in the mundane and his knack for storytelling make "Oddball Thoughts" a compelling read for anyone who enjoys a good laugh. The collection has been meticulously edited and is ready for publication. It appeals to fans of authors like David Sedaris and Erma Bombeck, blending keen observation with a humorous twist. The essays provide not only entertainment but also a comforting reminder that we are all delightfully odd in our own ways. Author Bio: Donald graduated LBHS in 1965. He is a humorist who has spent the last four years refining his craft in the Sun Valley East Writer’s Group in Florida. His essays have been well-received by his peers, who continue to enjoy his fresh and offbeat perspective on everyday life. In the summer he lives in the Bronx with his wife Mary Anne and their dog Piccolina, where he continues to find inspiration in the world around him.
