Caught using Character Counts!

The CCC! campaign is an activity to support the Character Education program at KMS. 8th grade student council volunteers deliver a video recorded character lesson from the Character Counts! model once a week during advisory. Each week students and staff can nominate one student that they have "caught" using good character. The names will go into a drawing to be held every Friday during all three grade's lunches. Winners will receive gift cards to Sonic, Starbucks, Yogurt Story or Braum's. At the end of the year all nominations will go into one drawing for an IPAD.

Event Information

KMS Valentine's Dance

KMS will host a Valentine's Dance on Friday, February 10th. The dance will be from 7 pm to 9 pm in the cafeteria. There will great music, a concession stand, and photo booth! Tickets will be available for purchase each morning prior to school starting and during lunches starting January 23rd. The prices of tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the door!

Reading with Ramirez

We are back into the swing of things after our winter break. We are at the beginning of our media unit and will be examining commercials and print ads for rhetorical elements. It should be fun and informative. Students will be completing a project at the end of the unit. Look for more information on this in about a week!

Read Across America is March 2nd. It celebrates...reading! I am on the hunt for guest readers throughout the day. If you or someone you know would be willing to be a guest reader for any of our grade levels, your time would be greatly appreciated. Please look for a form in next week's newsletter.

Finally, a good many students are missing work. Progress reports came out last week. If you haven't checked Parent Portal lately, now would be a good time! I'm available for tutorials nearly every morning and every day after school except Wednesdays. Please encourage your child to come in to get caught up if s/he is missing anything.

What's Going on in Roesler's ELA classrooms?

The next couple of weeks we are writing fictional short stories that we will publish to seesaw for our peers and family to read! Please ask your student to show you how to log on to their seesaw class page, and read their creative stories!!

This week, we have played the classic game, "Spoons" in order to learn our unit vocabulary. This game has been a hit, pairing learning and fun in the classroom!!

Please keep encouraging your students to read, and keep a journal at home to write in every night.

KMS Cheer Try-Outs Scheduled!

We have spirit, yes we do! We have spirit! How about you?

Mark your calendars! The KMS Cheerleader will be conducted on Friday, March 10th at 4:00 p.m. in the KMS competition gymnasium. There will be a mandatory parent information meeting for all participants on March 2nd.
