Bobcat Bulletin
Welcometo the 23-24 School Year!
Week of October 30th
From the Desk of Principal Schmid
Hello Bobcat Families,
Thank you to everyone who gave their time and creative effort to make our Fall Party possible for our students on Friday! Fall celebration was vibrant as students participated in various crafts and games, enjoying fall with one another! Thank you to our volunteers for your extra efforts to make this special for our students!
There were many, many helping hands that went into making the 2nd Annual PTA Monster Bash a great success! A huge shout out to Emily Cropper who coordinated the event as well as: Megan Happ, Dave Gargas, Dan Mantucca, Josh and Erin Cox, Lisa and Ben Kalnicky, Sofia Maki, Laura Burgess, Kelly Casmer, Christy Dryer, and Magda Kaminska. Fun was definitely had by all, and we loved getting to see the kids enjoying one another outside of the school day!
This week marks the start of a new quarter, and we move the calendar to November. So many great things to celebrate in Quarter 1! Here are some highlights:

Academically Talented Programming
District 204 offers a variety of academic programs to meet the needs of our students starting in 3rd grade. Although assessment occurs throughout the school year for all students, some programs require the gathering of additional information in order to determine appropriate placement.
Our identification process for Project Arrow and Accelerated Math programs includes the use of multiple measures when considering the whole child for academic programming. We consider standardized and normed assessment data including, but not limited to, the following: Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT), Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS), iReady, classroom assessments and student learning characteristics.
Parent Teacher Conferences is an excellent time to begin having a discussion with your child's teacher if you are interested in having he/she complete additional testing this winter in consideration for placement.
Any questions regarding our Academically Talented programming and testing can be directed to our Student Services Coordinator, Lindsey Stepper, lindsey_stepper@ispd.org.

Safety and Security Drills
Our school’s highest priority is the safety of our students and staff. In order to maintain a safe environment, it is necessary that we practice our emergency and crisis response plans.
We are required by the Illinois School Safety Drill Act (105 ILCS 128/1) to conduct a minimum of six safety drills per school year to ensure that our staff and students know their role and are prepared to act during a potential crisis. These safety drills are designed to protect students from danger in and around a school.
We do not conduct surprise drills. We teach students that drills are for practice, and when practicing, want to learn and grow from these experiences. We will conduct our safety drills on the following days and times this school year:
8/30 @9:30-Evacuation/Fire Drill-Completed
9/12 @2:30-Evacuation/Fire Drill-Completed
09/22 @9:30-11:00 (scheduled times)-Bus Evacuation Drill-Completed
10/2/23 @10:00-Law Enforcement Drill with NPD School Resource Officer-Completed
10/25/23 @9:45-Evacuation/Fire Drill with Naperville Fire Department
