Book of the Month - January
February Book: "Chinese New Year's Dragon"
Author: Rachel Sing
Illustrator: Shao Wei Liu
A festive account of one family’s Chinese New Year celebration. A little girl describes the preparations—everything from cleaning and shopping to food preparation and gifts—leading up to a magical Lunar New Year. In one dreamy sequence, the girl imagines herself in Ancient China, riding on a dragon, and watching the celebration unfold.
While recalling her own most ``positively magical'' Lunar New Year, a girl describes the customs and rituals surrounding the celebration. Liu's artwork is appropriately festive, and the illustrations of the family's holiday are divine. - Publisher's Weekly

PTA Updates
Addams PTA Listening Session: Follow-up Survey
Addams PTA's JEDI (Justice Equity Diversity & Inclusion) Committee held a live listening session via Zoom on 1/25/24. As a follow-up for those who may not have been able to be in attendance, we have created a survey with the same questions for families to complete.
We want to learn more about the ways you prefer to engage in your children’s school life. Engagement takes many forms—it could look like watching your child in a concert or a talent show, cheering them on during a sports game, helping them homework, advocating for their needs and accommodations, volunteering at a school event, or attending a PTA meeting.
We are also interested in your experience with the PTA, the ways you’re most interested in engaging, and how we can better serve you. We know it’s possible that you may not want to engage with the PTA for a variety of reasons. Whatever your experience—good or bad— we’d like to hear it.
Finally we hope to use the Information gathered through this dialogue to create a plan to help us bridge the gaps and needs in our school community.
