Happy Friday!
Last Friday night, our K-2 students shared their love of the stage at The Variety Show! It was a fun night and we thank the PTA and all the volunteers that made the event possible! A special shout-out to Mrs. Konopinski and Mrs. Bradley for the hours of practices, coordination of the event and dedication to the students of Walnut Avenue School :)
Our school week began with the excitement of McNally's favorite day of the year! Thank you to the Shea-Jennings School of Irish Dance for sharing the talents of WAS students and other students in the program with us on St. Patrick's Day!
The first day of Spring was Thursday and we are looking forward to Spring weather! Please see the reminder about the supervision after-school and keeping students safe after-school on the playground and fields.
While the NCAA March Madness Basketball has just begun . . . WAS is already at the Final Four! Check out the book bracket below :)
Thank you for taking time to read through this week's newsletter.
Please reach out if you have any questions.

After-School Playground/Field Supervision
Please remember adults should be supervising the students after-school on the playground and/or field.
During the school day, we have expectations and students are supervised by adults at all times. The supervision and expectations keep students safe.
We ask that if you are allowing your student to play after-school on the playground/field that you supervise the student(s) your are responsible for in order to ensure their safety.
Please be mindful of safety:
- near the driveway and parking lot
- bleachers
- lacrosse nets
Informing After-Care of Dismissal Changes
Please be sure to inform the After-Care Programs of dismissal changes.
When the After-Care Programs are not informed, it puts the school and the after-care program in a concerning situation. The safety of the students is our priority and when the program is not informed of a change to dismissal, we we are needing to confirm that the student has been picked up and the After-Care Program is waiting for the confirmation, a call is then made to the program to inform them of the change that wasn't provided, and all students in the program are needing to wait to leave the school.

908-709-6995 Absence Line
Please call 908-709-6995 to report an absence.
If you have a change in dismissal on a given day, please be sure to include Nurse Stein, Ms. McNulty and Ms. McNally on your email to the teacher so we can be sure that the email was seen by the teacher.
If an aftercare program needs to be notified of the change, please be sure to reach out to the aftercare to notify them of the change in dismissal.
ONE LANE on DRIVEWAY
The families using the Drop & Go option in the morning need to remain in ONE LANE.
Please do not pass on the left . . . Wait for the car in front of you to pull forward.
Please pull all the way up to the walkway leading to the main entrance (Door 1) or use the sidewalk to go back to the porch with Door 2 and Door 3. This will allow about more cars to drop off at one time.
Please DO NOT GET OUT OF THE CAR on the driveway.
Remember that students are to EXIT the car from the PASSENGER SIDE of the car.
Please DO NOT PASS ON THE LEFT AT ANY TIME - Wait for the cars to move up and out the driveway.
