National Merit Semi-Finalists
Gulfport High School is proud to announce our 2024 National Merit Semi-Finalists!
The 2023 PSAT/NMSQT served as an initial screen of over 1.3 million entrants to the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. The Selection Index scores of students who met program participation requirements were used to designate a pool of more than 16,000 Semifinalists on a state allocation basis. Semifinalists are the highest scorers in each of the 50 states and represent less than one percent of each state’s high school seniors. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for over 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $30 million that will be offered next spring.
Congratulations to these 7 students who excel in all aspects of high school and are in the ACT 30 club: Cooper B., Carter C., Marcus J., Lauren N., Jackson P., Elizabeth W., and Journey W.
College Board National Recognition
Congratulations to the following students for National Recognition in the 2024 Program Scholars through College Board. These students were in the top 10% among PSAT test-takers in the 11th grade in Mississippi. Students receive distinction as National Recognition Program Award Recipients for First Generation Scholars, African-American Scholars, Latino/Hispanic Scholars, or Rural High School Scholars. GHS is proud to recognize these six students for their hard work and dedication to their continued academic success.

Counselor Breakdown
Please see below for the updated counselor breakdown for this school year.
Being on time to class is important! When students are late to class, they miss valuable information and disrupt the learning environment for others. If students are tardy, they must receive a tardy slip from an administrator or the office. After 3 unexcused tardies in a 9 weeks, the student will receive after-school detention. The first bell rings at 8:20, meaning students are tardy if not in their 1st block by 8:25.
