This is a reminder to participate in the parent survey supplement, part of the Illinois 5Essentials Survey administration. We guarantee that survey responses will never be connected to the identity of you or your child. School reports will only present aggregated information of how parents and students responded as a whole.

A parent survey report will be generated if at least 20 percent of parents/guardians respond to the survey. While the parent data will not be made public, the parent report will be made available to principal, Kristen Cannon and superintendent, Dr. Josh Reitz and will enable them to make considerations based on the responses given by Riverwood parents/guardians. Your participation in the parent survey will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide improvement. Again, your identity and individual survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.

Teachers and fourth through 12th grade students throughout Illinois are taking the 5Essentials Survey. School-level 5Essentials Reports will be generated if teachers and/or students meet their 50 percent response-rate thresholds. These research-based reports will be sent to schools and districts in May and will also be included in the State School Report Card, released statewide in the fall.

The Community and Staff Engagement Committee would like to thank parents who donated food for our Spirit Day collection. We will be collecting food every Monday, to give to families in need. There is a greater demand than we anticipated for help for our Riverwood families!

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming back to Riverwood! The Scholastic Book Fair will be open for children to shop March 4th-8th. Please bring your recorder and have a ride ready to pick up by 5 p.m. at Door K!

What: After-school program where girls get to explore valuable lessons such as standing up for themselves and others, practicing empathy and being inclusive. All while having fun and training for a 5K.

When: Tuesdays & Thursdays after school until 5:30 beginning March 5th & ending with a 5K on May 19th.

Interested?: Registration will begin January 24, 2024. Scholarships available!
