Quick note
Spring is a busy time around here. In addition to daily instruction, many special events occur at Fletcher Miller. Class field trips, family engagement nights, transition planning for students joining Miller and for those transitioning to other schools, art shows, and graduation. This, by no means, is an exhaustive list.
We would love for you to join us on March 14th between 4 - 6 pm for our Family Engagement Night. You can visit departments and classrooms to see a variety of instructional activities in which your child participates. We will also have a variety of community resource representatives available to answer questions and provide information to families.
Finally, are you looking for a ways to be involved at Fletcher Miller School? Consider joining our parent/family advisory groups. I would love to hear about your hopes and dreams for your child and our community.
Take Care,
Julie
Target words to practice at Home
Daily Activity Target Word “good” and “not” and “uh oh”
Getting Ready Let’s find a shirt you might think is ‘good’ and wear that to school! You are smiling, you might think this is a ‘good’ one to wear. You turned away maybe ‘not’ this one. “Good” work brushing your teeth. “Not” done yet, let’s brush for 1 more minute. ‘Uh oh” its snowing out, we need a coat.
Meal Time “Good” job using your spoon. Talking about foods that might taste “good’ or foods they might “not” like or are “not good” The food (ex.spaghetti) is “not” ready yet. When something spills/accidently dropped “Uh oh”
Bath Time Talk about body parts that need to be washed Ex. Oops we did “not” wash your feet yet. “Good” work helping wash your (ex. hair).
Bed Time “Good” night.
Voting for the upcoming Prom
Ladies Group
Hello! I wanted to share what our middle/high school ladies group created! We created this mask to represent the Japanese art form of kintsugi, the act of binding broken pottery with gold to make it even more beautiful than before. The face is filled with things our ladies voted on that make life hard (the size is representative of the number of votes). The silver lining is filled with golden self affirmations they chose that they can turn to when they feel broken.
Affirmations
- I am inherently worthy
- I am a fallible human being that makes mistakes, but that doesn't make me less than
- I am self determined and I give others the same right
- I am a unique and precious human being
- I am doing the best I can, growing in wisdom and love
- I am emotionally well because I love myself
- I am kind and gentle toward myself
- I am enough and I matter
- I am loyal, forgiving and gentle to me
- I love myself unconditionally
- I create my reality
Secondary Class
The Secondary classes are studying European countries/WW2 and Anne Frank. They made passports, then the next week, we "visited" an art gallery in Holland and did some art critiques.
Zach and Abby wrote this about making the passports:

All School
We are in the season of love and giving, what better way to support your community than giving to the JeffCo Action Center. Now through March 8 we are collecting food and hygiene items as a part of Grub Club. All donations will go to supporting students experiencing homelessness and emancipation in our district. Our school is to collect ready-made meals or shelf-stable meals. (pop top items) There is a collection box in the lobby with a QR code to scan for monetary donations or to drop in a canned /packaged good. Thanks for your support!
