Cold Temperatures
Next Week- Jan. 21-23
We are anticipating extremely cold temperatures next week. Forecasts predict lows in the single digits, with wind chills dipping into negative numbers for much of the week. Please remind your students to dress in warm clothing and to wear coats, gloves, and hats. We will be opening the gym starting at 7:15 so students do not have to stand in the cold prior to the start of school. Students will be monitored by EMS staff during this time. When the 7:35 bell rings, students will proceed to homeroom as usual.
(At this time, this contingency plan is only for the week of Jan. 21st-Jan. 23rd.)
Attendance- DID YOU KNOW???
When students miss 18 school days in a given year, excused or unexcused, they are considered chronically absent. Does your student fall into this category?
The End of the Quarter Is Coming...
Quarter 2 ends Thursday, January 23rd. Please remind your student to check Powerschool for missing assignments. Students should also be staying after school during corrective time for reteaching and correctives. Student grades matter and we want our students to be successful and ready for the high school.
Important Note- In high school, students with failing grades are prohibited from playing sports or participating in extra curricular activities. Now is the time to expect effort and focus on learning and progress!
Easton Middle School is now a Community School
A community school is a public school that serves as a hub that brings families, communities and partners together to remove barriers to learning. With grant funding, community schools are able to provide services and resources to students and families to help them succeed. These services may include transportation, summer school and after school programs, medical services, student programs, field trips, and more.
Community school surveys are part of the process to gather information about the needs of the school. The information collected is a crucial part in determining what programs and resources currently exist and what is needed for students and families to thrive. Surveys will be given to the EMS staff, students, and our families/community. We will send out a separate communication with the links to the surveys next week. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our Community School Facilitator, Mrs. Shelby Parks at shelby.parks@talbotschools.org
