Kelso's Choice
Chief Charlo students begin learning Conflict Management skills in Kindergarten through the use of the Kelso's Choice curriculum. Kelso's curriculum, teaches children the difference between big problems and little problems, and the Choice Wheel helps them learn what skills they can utilize to manage conflict. We encourage you to ask your student(s) what they have learned.
If you would like to learn more about Kelso's Choice or speak with one of our wonderful counseling staff, call our front office at 406-542-4005 to be redirected to them. You can also learn more about them on our school website.

CHIEF CHARLO GARDEN
A Note From Garden City Harvest Farmer Lyris Daker
Fall is on the way and garden lessons for Chief Charlo students are underway! This year, 1st and 4th graders will come out to the garden to sharpen their plant knowledge. 1st grade will be learning all about plant anatomy, while 4th grade will be thinking like farmers to help us diagnose and solve plant health problems. Later in the fall, they will return to help us wrap up the garden for the year and eat some harvest soup!
Summer Update: The garden grew wonderfully this year! With a new pathway and a fresh coat of paint on the shed, it looked pretty spiffy. We had the summer school class in the garden to observe and taste as much produce as possible. Our surplus of produce was donated to the Missoula Food Bank’s Mobile Meal Bus which distributes food to kids all across town.

LOST AND FOUND
The Fall season brings the growth of the Lost and Found areas!! We have TWO areas for Lost and Found items ... Early Literacy, Kinder, 1st and 2nd grade items can be found hanging across from the cafeteria (top picture). Third, fourth and fifth grade items can be found hanging in the corner area by the gym (middle picture). Please come in and gather what your student has forgotten to bring home.

FAMILIES IN TRANSITION (FIT) PROGRAM
The Families in Transition (FIT) Program assists Chief Charlo students and families experiencing housing instability (McKinney-Vento Act) and/or economic hardship. FIT works as a bridge between families, our school and the district staff to empower students to stay in school and remain successful both in school and as lifelong learners. FIT also provides families access to community resources and services.
FIT is able to provide extra services to our students in need. This may include extra one-on-one educational support, or supplying students with school supplies, weekly EmPower Packs, or basic needs such as clothing, gym shoes, winter gear, toiletries, etc. FIT is here to support your family, because we care about all of our Wolves - BIG and small!!
I look forward to assisting you!
