Wickliffe Family Update

May 25, 2025 Notes and News
Dear Families,
It’s hard to believe we’ve arrived at the final week of school! As we wrap up the year, I want to thank you for your partnership, support, and encouragement throughout this school year. It has been a joy to watch your children learn, grow, and thrive.
This week, we’ll also be celebrating and saying goodbye to our 5th grade class. They have shown such perseverance, kindness, and compassion, and we’re excited to cheer them on as they cross this milestone. 5th grade families: we’ll begin welcoming you into the building around 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, once all students have arrived for the day.
As we head into summer break, we hope your family enjoys a season full of rest, fun, and connection. While school will be out, we’ll continue to send occasional updates over the summer to help you stay informed and prepared for the new school year.
Please be sure to check the information below about when to expect your child’s class placement and other important details for the start of school.
Wishing you a safe and wonderful summer—we look forward to welcoming you back in August!
Warmly,

Wickliffe Updates
Field Day is Tuesday!
We know everyone is looking forward to this fun day! Please be prepared - make sure students wear tennis shoes, bring sunscreen, water bottles, hats, and an extra change of clothes!
5th Grade Graduation
We’re looking forward to welcoming our 5th grade families to graduation on Wednesday! We plan to begin the ceremony between 8:30–8:40, once all students and guests are settled.
Family members of 5th graders will be able to enter the building around 8:15, after all students have come in from the playground and buses. Seating will be available in the back of the gym for families.
To help the ceremony run smoothly, we ask that everyone keep the pathway clear where our 5th graders will enter on the far side of the gym. They will parade through to the back before taking their seats, and we want to ensure that this walkway remains accessible for all students and staff.
The ceremony is expected to last about 90 minutes. Afterward, 4th and 5th graders and their family members will remain in the gym while the rest of the school exits, clapping out the 5th grade class. Families and 4th/5th graders are then invited to stay and enjoy a cookie reception to celebrate together.
Forget to order a yearbook?
Yearbooks were distributed to students this week. if you missed the original order, families can still purchase a yearbook. Yearbooks are $16 and can be paid for with exact cash or a check made out to Upper Arlington Schools.
Lost & Found – Final Call for This Year!
Our Lost and Found is once again full, and we’ll be donating all unclaimed items a week after school ends. If you're visiting the building for any of our upcoming events, please take a moment to stop by the Lost and Found closet to look for any missing items.
Looking Ahead to Next Year:
-
Please be sure to label your child’s clothing and personal items. This simple step makes it much easier for us to reunite lost items with their owner. (Check out Mabel's Labels for an easy way to buy lables that also support our PTO.)
-
We’re looking for volunteers to help keep the Lost and Found organized. This includes checking for names on items, tidying up weekly, and helping with monthly prep for donations.
Thanks for helping us keep our Lost and Found under control—and for supporting our efforts to return items to their rightful owners!

School Counselors' Corner
Happy May, Wickliffe Families!
I can't believe it is already the last month of school! I have sincerely loved every minute of being a Wickliffe Wolf this year! Although I am sad to leave this amazing place, I am very excited that Mrs. Shaffer will return next year! The rest of the school year, I will focus on transitioning things back to Mrs. Shaffer and getting our students ready to transition to their new grades next year! If you need anything at all in the coming weeks, please reach out at kkaram@uaschools.org or ext. 6503.
Summer Offerings:
Just a reminder that Upper Arlington has partnered with Hazel Health, a teletherapy service that is offered free to any students attending UA elementary schools! If this is something you would be interested in for the summer, please let me know, and I will submit a referral.

Nurse Notes
Any prescription medication administered at school requires written authorization from the student’s physician as well as written parental permission. Per Ohio Revised Code, the Prescribed Medication must be received by the health office in the container in which it was dispensed by the provider or pharmacist (we cannot accept medication in baggies). Medication authorization forms and other health forms can be found on the district website at: UA Health Forms. Should you have any questions, please contact the Wickliffe Health Office at 614-487-5150.
Our health clinics track communicable illnesses and work with local public health agencies to mitigate potential outbreaks. If your student is diagnosed with or treated for a communicable illness/condition (strep, pinkeye, influenza, COVID-19, lice, etc.), please report those to the school nurse at wickliffehealthclinic@uaschools.org, or wickliffeattendance@uaschools.org. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure Wickliffe is a healthy learning environment for all of our students!
