Adoption of Consent Agenda Items
The Governing Board voted to accept the consent agenda items. Items listed under the consent agenda motion are considered to be a regular course of procedure and are acted on by the Board of Trustees in one motion.
There is no discussion of these items prior to the Board vote unless a member of the Board, staff, or the public requests specific items be discussed and/or removed from the agenda. It is understood that the administration recommends approval on all consent items. Each item on the consent agenda approved by the Board of Trustees shall be deemed to have been considered in full and adopted as recommended.

Personnel: Memorandum of Understanding: CSEA, Chapter 641, and the CSD
The Governing Board acknowledged the Memorandum of Understanding between the Cambrian School District and the California School Employees Association, Chapter 641, as part of the Consent Agenda.

Communications Update
Mrs. Dawn Klavon, Coordinator of Communications, Marketing, and Community Engagement, presented an update on the current communication plan and outlined key communication initiatives for the 2024–25 school year.

Measure R: Change Order 2D - HVAC
The Governing Board ratified the one (1) necessary change order, 2D, in connection with the HVAC projects in the Common Area at Bagby, Farnham, and Sartorette. In accordance with the District's change order approval process, the following change order is in connection with the replacement of the HVAC equipment in common areas (e.g., offices, libraries, multi-use buildings, etc.) located at Bagby, Farnham, and Sartorette.
The total change orders for larger modernization projects typically range from 6% - 8%. The attached change order totals a credit of $27,850.00, which represents a -2.69% change of the total contract listed of $1,036,069.00

Measure R: Change Order 5C - Modular Classroom Project
The Governing Board ratified the one (1) necessary change order, 5C, in connection with the Modular Classroom Projects. In accordance with the District's change order approval process, the following change orders are in connection with the replacement of the oldest portables located at Fammatre, Farnham, Sartorette, and Price Middle School.The total change orders for larger modernization projects typically range from 6% - 8%. The attached change orders total a credit of $3,600.00 which represents a .57% change of the total contracts listed of $630,945.00.

Personnel: MOU: CDTA & CSD - Exploration of 6-Period Day at Price Middle School
The Cambrian School District and the Cambrian District Teachers' Association wish to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the exploration of a six-period day at Price Middle School.
Term: 2025 - 26 School Year
Educational Services: Consolidated Application 2025-26 - Approval
The Governing Board approved the Consolidated Application for 2025-26. The Consolidated Application (ConApp) is used by the California Department of Education to distribute categorical funds from various state and federal programs to county offices, school districts, and direct-funded charter schools throughout California.
Annually, each local educational agency (LEA) submits an application to document participation in these programs and provides assurances that the district will comply with the legal requirements of each program. Program entitlements are determined by formulas contained in the laws that created the programs.

Educational Services: 2024-25 California Dashboard Local Indicators - Approval
The Governing Board approved the California Dashboard Local Indicators summary of results for 2024-25. Mr. Linh Nguyen, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, provided a summary of the California School Dashboard Local Indicators. The Dashboard serves as a progress report, offering insight into overall performance as well as performance by student groups across multiple measures of student success. The Dashboard also helps identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas in need of improvement for local educational agencies and schools.

Local Control and Accountability Plan - Adoption
The Governing Board approved the 2025-26 Local Control and Accountability Plans. On June 3, 2025, the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, Mr. Linh Nguyen, provided a summary and outline of the District’s Local Control Accountability Plan. The summary included the actions and services for improving student outcomes according to the eight priorities set by the state. This was an opportunity for the Board to approve the 2025-26 Local Control and Accountability Plan.

Budget: 2025-26 - Adoption
The Governing Board adopted the Cambrian School District budget for 2025-26. At the June 3, 2026, Board Meeting, Chief Financial Officer, Dr. John Pappalardo presented a summary of the proposed 2025-26 budget for the Cambrian School District. The presentation included all the required State documents, such as the Statement of Reasons for Excess Reserves and the 2025-26 SACS forms. This item provides an opportunity for the Governing Board to adopt the 2025-26 budget as previously presented.

Resolution 24-25-13: Approval of the Charter Renewal Petition for Sartorette
The Governing Board adopted Resolution 24-25-13, thereby approving the renewal of the Charter Petition for Sartorette Charter Elementary School for a five-year term, effective July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2030. The current Charter for Sartorette Charter Elementary School is set to expire on June 30, 2025. The District has submitted a renewal petition to request a five-year extension of the charter, from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2030.
As part of the renewal petition process, a public hearing regarding the petition was held on June 3, 2025, pursuant to Education Code Section 47605, providing the Board of Trustees an opportunity to consider the level of support for the renewal petition by teachers, staff, and parents.
Charter renewals are governed by the standards and criteria in Education Code sections 47605, 47607, and 47607.2. District staff, in consultation with legal counsel, reviewed the renewal petition and determined that Sartorette meets the applicable legal standards and criteria for renewal.

Personnel: New Job Description: Behavior Manager - BCBA (Classified Position)
The Governing Board approved the new job description of the Behavior Manager - BCBA and added the position to the Classified Management Salary Schedule. As part of Cambrian’s ongoing efforts to better meet the diverse needs of our students, staff is proposing a new job description for a Behavior Manager. The Licensed Behavior Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and overseeing site-based services to ensure they effectively address the academic, behavioral, social, and other related needs of students experiencing challenges.
The proposed position is under the direction of the Site Principal or designated administrator, and is to be placed on the Classified Management Salary Schedule.

Revenue Enhancement Opportunity: Parcel Tax
The Governing Board and staff had the opportunity to discuss the possibility of conducting a Parcel Tax Study to explore options for enhancing ongoing revenue for the Cambrian School District.
Next Board Meeting
The next meeting of the Cambrian School Board will be held Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. (a new, earlier time from past school board meetings). Meetings are held in person at the Professional Development Center located at 4115 Jacksol Drive, San Jose, CA 95124 in Building 7, and can be viewed online as well. Agenda and login information will be available the week of the meeting. The meeting is open to the public.
