Upcoming Back to School Night
Join us for Back to School Night on Thursday, September 12, as we welcome families to Watson Mountain Middle School! The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a series of short presentations on Spectrum, English Language Learners, and Special Education.
Families will then participate in a series of three 15-minute sessions, starting at 6:00 p.m., which will provide an overview of each subject area. At 7:00 p.m., families are invited to walk through their student's schedule and explore their new Yeti home. Additionally, a video presentation from our Superintendent, Dr. Aaron Spence, will be available in the auditorium at 7:00 p.m. We will provide a detailed schedule in our next newsletter. We look forward to seeing you there and sharing what makes our school community so special!
Quarter 1 Intramurals (7 x 7 Flag Football)
We are excited to kick off the 2024-2025 Middle School Intramural Sports program at Watson Mountain! This year, we are offering a different sport each quarter, beginning with 7x7 Flag Football for Quarter 1. Games will be held on Thursdays after school from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the season running from September 19 to October 24. The LCPS Championship will take place on Saturday, November 2, at Heritage High School. All Watson Yeti students are encouraged to join, either by signing up individually or forming a team with 7 to 11 players.
This is a great opportunity for students to get active, have fun, and build teamwork skills. For more details or to sign up, please reach out to our Intramural Sports Coordinator, Mr. Erik Sassak, at erik.sassak@lcps.org Also, check out all of the detailed information here. We look forward to seeing our Yetis on the field!
Fall WMMS Club Registration
The PTO is thrilled to announce the line-up of clubs for our first fall session at WMMS! We hope your student will find a club that sparks their interest and provides a wonderful opportunity to connect with classmates who share similar passions.
The fall session will run for eight weeks, from Monday, September 9 to Thursday, November 21. All clubs will meet from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please see this flyer for the full schedule of clubs, and check out this Description of Clubs Guide for more details about each one! Registration for all clubs will open soon on our website (www.watsonmountainpto.org). Be sure to register early, as spaces are limited for all clubs.
PTO Priority Registration: For those Yeti families who have joined the PTO, registration opened on Thursday, August 29. If you are interested in joining the PTO, please click here.
General Registration: This registration will open on Sunday, September 1, at 8:00 a.m., for those who have not had an opportunity to join our PTO.
Please note that activity buses will not be available until the week of Monday, September 30, so students would need their own transportation prior to that week. Excitedly, we will also have an opportunity to offer winter and spring sessions as well, so stay tuned! If you have any questions, feel free to email us at afterschoolclubs@watsonmountainpto.org.
