Professional Development (2024-2025)
We have our District Professional Development ready for you! According to the survey, staff picked two areas for Tier I Instruction: Active Engagement (Explicit Instruction) and classroom management (SEB).
A brief overview of both series:
SEB: Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Needs
Trainer: Matt Hoge (MiMTSS)
Purpose: This series focuses on evidence-based, positive, and proactive practices for educators supporting and responding to students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs in the classroom. At the end of the learning series, participants will understand ways to set up the classroom environment and engage learners to maximize instruction.
Explicit Instruction (by Anita Archer)
Trainer: Jennie Goldstein
Purpose: Explicit direct instruction (EDI) is a teaching method that benefits students by providing clear learning objectives, breaking down complex concepts, and giving step-by-step guidance. It is unambiguous, structured, systematic, and scaffolded instruction. It engages students actively, offers direct teaching, and offers immediate feedback.
You will also receive the monthly Building Professional Development schedule from your building principal. That will consist of one hour of PLC and another hour determined by your principal (could be PLC, staff meeting, or other training needs).
