May 19, 2025
Good afternoon Renner Mustangs and Families,
As we wrap up an incredible year of learning we want to share a few final reminders and celebrations before we officially start summer break.
Congratulations to Our 8th Graders!
We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2029! Your leadership, creativity, and resilience have been an inspiration. We wish you the best as you move on to high school—keep reaching for great things!
No Food Deliveries Reminder
No food deliveries will be accepted by a 3rd party vendor. This is a PISD policy. A parent may drop off food for their student but we can not accept food being dropped off by doordash, etc.
Chromebook Collection Update
Student Chromebooks will be collected on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025 as you complete your last exams. Your teachers will direct you for this.
Last day of school planning
You may bring ONLY a pen/pencil and yearbook to school on the last day of school - Friday, May 23rd. Do NOT bring any book bags, backpacks or large purses to school during the last day of school. We will be checking all students as you enter the building. Any unapproved items will be held in the front until the end of the school day.
Yearbook Delivery
Monday thru Thursday this week. Thank you to Ms Justice and the yearbook staff for an amazing yearbook! There is a limited supply still available for $50 cash. Please see Mrs Justice in room 404 before or after school to make a purchase.
Thank you to all our students, families, and staff for an amazing year. Your support, encouragement, and engagement help make our school a place where every student can thrive.
We wish you a safe, restful, and fun-filled summer. See you in the fall!
Best Regards,
Renner MS

Aplicación disponible para el año escolar de 2025-2026 a partir del 27 de enero del 2025.
Note from the Renner Nurse
MEDICATIONS: For any students with medications in the clinic, please remember to pickup the medication sometime between Monday 5/19 and Thursday 5/22. No medication pickup will be allowed on the last day of school, as the last day is already very chaotic for the front office staff! Any medication still remaining in the clinic as of Friday 5/23 will be disposed of per district policy.
ACTION PLANS: Don’t forget any action plans (asthma/allergy/epilepsy/diabetes) must be renewed each school year. You can download a blank action plan to send to your child’s provider in preparation for the 2025-2026 school year - https://www.pisd.edu/Page/1697
VACCINES: Please use the summer break to ensure your student is up-to-date on vaccines! If your student is delinquent with any vaccine(s), their schedules will not be released in August until they’re in compliance. To check if your student is currently up-to-date:
- Log in to Skyward Family Access https://www.pisd.edu/familyaccess
- Health Tile – you may or may not need to expand the next screen depending on how you’re viewing the website, but Vaccines is toward the bottom of the list
- Under “Status Update” column you’ll see if they’re currently in or out of compliance
- For current 6th graders, a lack of Tdap/MCV4 vaccines wouldn’t likely trigger an “Out of Compliance” until after the last day of school for this school year. If you’ll hit the right-facing arrow with the blue circle to the left of the Vaccines, you can view the vaccine record as we have it in our system. If your student has received vaccines that aren’t listed there, please obtain the most recent vaccine record from your physician and email it to me.
ANNUAL ENROLLMENT FORMS: There are roughly 200+ students whose parent/guardian has yet to complete the annual enrollment forms for this current school year. For 2025-2026, students will not have access to their schedules without a completed annual enrollment form. The enrollment form for 2025-2026 are available in Skyward; however, to save yourself time it is encouraged that you complete 2024-2025 annual enrollment forms now, as most of the information will carry over to next year’s forms making the process much faster toward the end of the summer. Without these forms I have no medical information, and very limited information and contacts in case of emergency.
Thank you!

Message from the RMS Regarding eHallpass
RMS Parents,
This week we are introducing students to e-hallpass, a new hallway pass system we'll begin using at RMS very soon. Shepton High School also recently started using e-hallpass, and we're excited to be able to align with their efforts as our 8th graders prepare to transition there. The purpose of this communication is to provide additional information about e-hallpass at Renner before the system is implemented. Below you will find a frequently asked questions (FAQ) resource designed to address common questions we’ve heard about e-hallpass.
What is e-hallpass?
e-hallpass is a digital hall pass system that allows students to request passes through a tile on their school Webdesk. Students may request passes using existing classroom technology such as chromebooks and desktop computers.
Why an electronic hall pass system?
Based on information gleaned from other PISD campuses that use this system successfully, we believe that e-hallpass has the potential to reduce classroom disruptions and enhance accountability for student whereabouts. Shepton High School is also implementing e-hallpass, so introduction of the program will help our 8th graders as they transition to Shepton next school year.
Does a student need to use their personal cell phone or personal device to obtain a pass out of class?
No, a student may use any web-connected device to request a pass. Most often, they should be using their Chromebooks, so it’ll be important to have charged Chromebooks with them daily. If students do not have access to a device accessible, teachers are able to create passes for students in only a few seconds from the e-hallpass teacher dashboard.
Does e-hallpass track a student’s location using cell phone location services?
No, e-hallpass does not use location services at all.
Is a student required to carry a device on them in the hallway or bathroom?
No, a student need not carry a device with them in the hallway or in the bathroom. Our Administrative team will be able to view all active student passes to quickly confirm when a student has a legitimate hall pass.
What personal information does e-Hallpass use in the application?
e-hallpass uses student first and last names and PISD Google email addresses.
Their Privacy and Security Policy can be found at: https://eduspiresolutions.org/privacy-policy/ The Policy indicates E-hallpass’ compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Data on student hall pass usage is stored on a short-term basis.
How does a digital hall pass system enhance security?
A digital hall pass system allows a school to know how many students are in the hallway at any given time and identifies each student on a pass. Whether in a real emergency or a practice drill situation, this information allows for greater awareness and security across the entire school campus.
When will e-hallpass be implemented at RMS?
E-hallpass is rolling out this week, following our training with students and staff. We are continuously revising our systems to best meet the needs of our Renner students and staff.
Here's an article from a school that uses e-hallpass. https://archive.triblive.com/local/south-hills/electronic-passes-provide-added-level-of-security-at-tjhs/
New to PISD PACE Testing
If you are new to Plano ISD this school year, you have to opportunity to test for placement into the PACE (Plano Academic and Creative Education) Program.
If you are interested in your Renner student being tested for entry into the Plano Academic and Creative Education (PACE) program:
- click on the following link: https://www.pisd.edu/giftededucation.
- choose the Secondary Forms (Grade 6-8) in English or Spanish and fill it out.
The deadline to submit the referral for fall testing is Friday, August 23rd. If you do not get it submitted by this date, your student will have to wait until next semester to be tested.
Please contact Angie Ritchie (angie.ritchie@pisd.edu) if you have any questions or need assistance with this process.
NURSES' NOTES
This is a reminder that the only medications your student(s) may carry in their backpack are albuterol, insulin, and epinephrine. All three of these medications require a physician-signed action plan to be on file in the clinic. Tylenol, Motrin, all other over-the-counter medications must be stored in the clinic, and require a medication authorization form before I can provide any medication. See the district’s website for more information: https://www.pisd.edu/Page/1698.
Several families of returning PISD students have not yet completed the Annual Enrollment forms through Skyward. Please note that medical information did not migrate from our previous system into Skyward. We need the Annual Enrollment form to be completed for every student. If you’ve not already set up Family Access on Skyward, please visit this site to get started: https://www.pisd.edu/familyaccess. If you believe you’ve already completed this form, please go into Skyward and double-check that it’s been submitted. We’re seeing many forms still in the “started” stage which mean parents haven’t completed all pages and hit “submit.”
Please encourage your student to bring a bottle of water to school every day!
Immunizations
Please continue to send me immunization records over the summer. If you have a 6th grader heading into 7th in the fall, they will most likely need a Tdap booster and the first meningococcal vaccine. They cannot start 7th grade without these vaccines. You can review their immunization record on the Parent Portal – what you see there is what I see on my side so if there is no meningococcal dose and no Tdap booster in the last 5 years, please schedule an appointment ASAP for them. Parent Portal: https://parentportal.pisd.edu/Login.aspx
Action Plans
If your student has asthma/allergies/epilepsy/diabetes, please note those action plans are good for one school year. They will need new action plans for the fall. Action plans can be found on the district’s website: https://www.pisd.edu/parents/health/checklist.shtml
Thank you,
Nurse Reece
