September Character Trait of the month is Love
This month's character trait is love. This character trait is based on Bible verse Matthew 22:37, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind”. This week we interviewed three students and asked them what they thought represented love. Jonah Foreman said, “For me love means taking care of people.” Avery Crump said, “Love, for me means sacrifice”. Katie Largent said, “Love is like unconditional care for somebody”.

Class Spotlight: 1st Grade
Sophia observed Mrs. Lanning's first grade class this past week to see what they were learning. At the start of the class, students were working on a paper activity and reading while Mrs. Lanning was helping individual students. After a couple of minutes, the timer went off, and Mrs. Lanning addressed who the caboose, line leader, and the door holders would be for the day. After that, students sat on the little dots at the front of the room and did pledges. They sang “America” and the days of the week song, “Sunday Monday”. She then sang a song to them that spells out ‘September’ to teach them the current month.
Students transitioned to the carpet while Mrs. Lanning used the whiteboard. It was time for students to pray after two students took prayer requests. They picked two kids each, took the prayer requests and prayed for them. After that, they took some time to learn a pattern and at the end of my stay, they sang two new songs.
Patriot Day is Wednesday
Patriot Day is celebrated only in the United States on September 11th yearly. It is celebrated to honor the 3,000 victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack. It is also celebrated to recognize the bravery of the first responders and how they risked their lives and to honor those whose lives were lost that day. The U.S. Congress decided on December 18, 2001 that September 11th would be designated for Patriot Day.
Survey Says:
This week's survey says questions was, "Would you rather live in a house made out of haybales or cornstalks?" Ninety CCA students were surveyed and house made of hay bales pulled away with the win having 57 votes, while house of corn stalks received only 33. Fun Facts: A corn stalks roots can reach 6.5 feet into the ground. --Brooklyn
Senior Spotlight: Clara
Clara has attended CCA since her freshman year. Her favorite CCA memory is at state her junior year, when they won the game against CLC and made it to the championship. Clara’s favorite Bible verse is John 13:7 “You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.”
Clara has 2 dogs, a miniature yorkie, Diesel and a mix between a lab and golden retriever, Otis. In her free time she plays volleyball or other sports, and she works at Four Fillies Mercantile. Her favorite sport to play is indoor and outdoor volleyball. She said her favorite snack and drink is “Freeze dried fruit made by the one and only, but mountain trail mix never hurt anybody". As far as drinks go, Clara never turns down a special coffee.” Her favorite type of music is 90’s country sung by Randy Travis and the Chicks.
Her favorite thing about CCA is the friendship and connections you make with the teachers. Clara says her future plans after high school is, “I plan to play volleyball at a junior college and then transfer to SBU to continue my studies and get my masters in physical therapy.” --Miyah
Chapel
CCA Chapel was opened by 4th Grade on Friday with pledges, singing and prayer. Then all in attendance were blessed by Sandra Poff, our chapel presenter. She told us we had 30 seconds to talk to a partner about something we would discuss with them in an hour. She even told us an embarrassing event that occurred to her.
After that, she asks a few students to tell her a piece of advice that they had once been told. Finally, she said, “For thirty seconds, talk to your partner about Jesus’ life story". She picked three students out of the elementary and middle school section and asked them what they talked about. Then, she moved onto the high school section. And to end it all, Sandra talks about the love of God, about how we should all be sharing about Jesus everyday, and what a blessing it is to have Him in our lives. -Sophia

Senior Fundraising
Our 2025 CCA Seniors are raising money for their senior trip which is partly a mission trip and partly a fun trip. They will be going to southeast Georgia to work in a food pantry, and Christian camp for foster children.
This year, our seniors also have an opportunity to go on CCA's very first out of country mission trip to Belize. Money raised will first go towards the Senior trip to Georgia/Florida but we have hope that if enough money is raised it will cover some of the cost to their Belize trip.
Please see the email you received on September 7th about the Laundry Soap fundraiser for our seniors. A flier was sent home with the papers from meet the teacher night. You can simply fill out the form and send a check to CCA with the form and payment made out to CCA. This is a great fundraiser - everyone needs laundry soap, dish soap and trash bags.
CCA Seniors also sell homemade cookies every Thursday morning! Students love this! Just $1
The CCA Seniors will have a Yard Sale in November. I will send out more information later but please fill free to save and donate your yard sale items to them to sell!
Thank you so so much for all the love, prayers and support!
