Dear Families,
As I write this Saturday morning, the world looks beautiful AND soggy. Please don’t forget to send in rain gear for recess this coming week. We had a couple of mostly dried-out warmer days this week when we could bound out with just boots. Hoping for those to return soon.
Grand Friends Tea is coming up April 4th Students will have the opportunity to invite older friends and relatives. We have a formal tea, with china and accompanying goodies. It’s a great way for students to connect with elders and to practice etiquette and conversational skills. If your child has grandparents or grand friends, please invite them and rsvp to Samantha sfarrellschmitt@acsdvt.org. No worries, however, if your child does not have someone to invite. Several elders from the community are also invited and we will connect them with children who do not have a grand friend to invite. We ask that parents not come as their child’s guest. This has been a warm and wonderful event in the past for the children, guests and Weybridge Community. Let me know if you have questions.
Here is the FOWE sign-up genius form for volunteers to help serve at the Grand Friends Tea https://grow.withlome.com/a/b57508df-57f9-4106-bcdc-90c5852b443f
We definitely need more pourers. Thank you to all of you who are able to help with this fun community event.
Everyone please read - We need lunch volunteers! Once again we have no sign ups for next week! We did manage to get all days covered last week, but the pool is fairly small and that means only a few folks are carrying the load every week. If you can volunteer for one of these days, please email me cjohnston@acsdvt.org or sign up directly on the calendar. If you know someone who might be interested in helping out, please have them contact Samantha to get volunteer clearance underway.VTCAP state testing dates/times for grades 3-5
Reminder: VTCAP state testing for grades 3-5, 4/1-4/11. Please remember, while there is time available for students to make up any test sessions missed, it’s really helpful to your child if they are able to participate in the assessment along with their classmates. More information will be sent out early next week. Please be in touch with any questions you may have.
Best, Christina

Vermont Common Assessment Program (VTCAP)
All Vermont School Districts are required to administer the Vermont Comprehensive Assessment Program (VTCAP). This computer-based test is adaptive and will assess our state standards for English Language Arts (ELA), math, and science. ACSD schools will administer these assessments this year between March 10 and April 25. These assessments include:
VTCAP Language Arts and Mathematics: Grades 3-9
VTCAP Science Assessment: Grades 5, 8, and 11
Your school's principal will be in touch with specifics about the timing of the VTCAP at your school.
We’re raising pay for substitutes! Apply now!
Substitute teachers are crucial for our students, staff, staff, and schools! We are increasing our daily substitute teaching rate to $160/day for unlicensed subs and $200/day for licensed subs. This change begins on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 when students return from winter break. This flat rate replaces our sliding rate of pay for subs depending on the number of days worked.
To apply, you can email your interest to HR@acsdvt.org with "Substitute Position" in the subject line. You can also visit this listing on school spring.
Community Feedback needed!
Parents, Caregivers, Students, Staff & Community, we want to hear from you! In the Spring of 2024, ACSD began a two year process toward joint accreditation by NEASC and IB (read more here). We are currently in the self-study and evidence gathering phase and we want to hear from you! Please take 10 minutes to fill out this NEASC Learning Community Survey to help inform how we are doing in key areas and where we need to focus and improve in the future.
Please choose the survey links that best fits your role and school affiliation.

Important Measles update from our ACSD Nurses
The VT Dept. of Health confirmed the first measles case in Vermont in 2025. Measles is an extremely infectious, airborne illness that can cause severe illness and even death. Babies, young children, and people with weak immune systems are at higher risk of getting very sick from measles.
Important facts to keep your family safe:
Symptoms usually start with high fever, cough, runny nose, and red/watery eyes. The characteristic rash usually appears 3-5 days after first symptoms. Call your healthcare provider with any symptoms.
Measles is one of the most contagious diseases. It is airborne and spread through direct contact with infectious droplets.
Vaccination is the best way to prevent and protect your family against serious illness. The measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine is safe and effective. Two doses are about 97% effective at preventing measles; one dose is about 93% effective.
Contact your health care provider to ensure your family is up-to-date or to get vaccinated. Measles vaccines are free in Vermont.
Learn more about measles symptoms, spread, and prevention in the full update from our ACSD nurses and at HealthVermont.gov/measles
