BOOTH HILL SCHOOL

Principal's Message
👋 Dear Booth Hill Families,
Once again, I am blown away by the love, appreciation, and thoughtfulness of our Booth Hill community! From students wishing me happy birthday on the way in, throughout the hallways, making me cards, singing happy birthday, and staff doing much of the same to the PTA and Father's Club decorating my office and presenting me with a witty dad joke cake, I can honestly say that today has been a monumental birthday, and not just because it was number 50! Thank you!!
Best regards,
Kevin Chase

MTSS
I had mentioned about our systems of support in last week's newsletter. I wanted to provide some more information from Connecticut's State Department of Education. As I mentioned last week, we began with benchmark assessments in TPS. Connecticut has adopted the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework as part of its public education system to provide comprehensive support for all students. TPS has recently revised its document. I will share that with you as soon as it is finalized. Here's a brief summary of MTSS in Connecticut:
Key Components
MTSS in Connecticut is a comprehensive framework that integrates academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support for students. It consists of several essential elements:
Tiered Support System
Tier 1: High-quality core instruction and support for all students
Tier 2: Targeted interventions for students needing additional support
Tier 3: Intensive, individualized interventions for students with significant needs
Data-Driven Decision Making
Connecticut's MTSS emphasizes the use of data to identify student needs, monitor progress, and make informed decisions about interventions and support.
Evidence-Based Practices
The framework promotes the use of research-based strategies and interventions across all tiers.
Implementation
Connecticut's implementation of MTSS includes:
Regular screening and progress monitoring of all students
A focus on prevention and early intervention
Collaboration among educators, administrators, and support staff
Engagement of families and community partners
Goals and Benefits
The adoption of MTSS in Connecticut aims to:
Improve academic outcomes for all students
Address behavioral and social-emotional needs
Reduce referrals to special education
Promote equity and inclusion in education
By leveraging MTSS, Connecticut's public education system strives to create a more responsive and effective learning environment that supports the whole child and enhances overall student success.

Hillcrest Referendum Frequently Asked Questions
On September 25, the community came together for a forum on the "New" Hillcrest building. During the presentation we agreed to create a document that answers questions that we received at the forum and in other communications. Please use the link below to review the FAQ Document. This document provides quite a bit of information about the project and the upcoming referendum.
Halloween Parade
Halloween will be celebrated at Booth Hill School on Wednesday, October 30th. This is a fun time for our students. On Halloween, all students are invited to come to school dressed in costume. the only exception would be those who choose to wear inflatable costumes. We ask that those costumes are brought in and put on before the parade. We plan on having the parade at the end of the day on the playground field. This is for students and staff only.
Please know that costumes are OPTIONAL. Costumes cannot be violent in nature. Face paint or scary masks such as the “Evil Jester”, “It”, “Grim Reaper”, “Chucky”, “Scream” or any other costumes that contain blood/scars will not be allowed to be worn. No accessories of any kind are allowed.
Thank you for helping us to keep our students safe, physically and emotionally.

This competition is brought to you by the Connecticut State Treasurer’s Office as Trustee of the Connecticut Higher Education Trust (CHET).
This year, they will be awarding almost $350,000 in CHET 529 College Savings Plan – Direct Plan (“CHET 529 Direct Plan”) account contributions to students in grades K-12 and technology prizes to schools. For the winning students, we will be awarding:

To enter, students are asked to answer a question by submitting a drawing or painting, essay, or video. Younger students will be asked to answer a question focusing on lessons they’ve learned and their dreams for the future, and older students will be asked about an experience or person that has impacted them and how that will influence their future goals. Submissions must be uploaded by 11:59 p.m. on November 4. There is no cost to enter. For program details, rules and the entry process, visit: www.chetdreambig.com
Downloadable entry forms and flyers are available on the website as well.
A school in your district could be a winner too! Each school that is represented by at least one student’s entry will be eligible for a random drawing for a technology prize worth $5,000 (a total of 10 schools will win a technology prize).
