A FEW MOMENTS with MCCABE
February 2025
Longhorns,
A few snow days, an end of a semester, a fresh start to a new semester, and just like that 1/12 of the year is under our belts. It was a jam packed January, and a very strong start to the 2025 year all around Parkway West High. I want to welcome all our Longhorns to what we hope will be a fantastic February!
With two weeks already in the books, our students and teachers have been busily working to settle into their second semester classes. These early stages of the semester are so critical to set the tone for a successful semester. This is the time to set goals and hold oneself to a high standard of accountability. No matter what happened last semester, this is the time to really get after it. Make February the best month yet.
We had a very successful registration period that wrapped up on Friday. The planning for the school year 2025-2026 is well underway. Additionally, we had an excellent curriculum night event showcasing all that West High has to offer to our incoming class of 2029. I am so excited to welcome such an incredible group of Longhorns to the family in the very near future.
We have lots to look forward to in February with a variety of activities related to Black History month and our Special Olympics event on February 19th. February also famously holds Valentine's Day; and in the spirit, I challenge all of us to take care of each other this month. Help a friend, lend a hand, or pay it forward doing something nice for others. Spread the love. It is also a great opportunity to find some time to foster and care for those relationships that mean so much to us.
Let's go Longhorns!
We are West High!
With Longhorn Pride,
John McCabe
Principal, West High
