Principal's Point
North families,
Veterans Day is a time for us to pay our respects to those who have served.
For one day, we stand united in respect for you, our veterans.
This holiday started as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country's service and was originally called Armistice Day. It fell on Nov. 11 because that is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. However, in 1954, the holiday was changed to "Veterans Day" in order to account for all veterans
The Veterans Day program is a time-honored tradition at North Elementary. Mrs. Krent is so very proud to teach all grade levels the songs that are part of the fabric of our lives.
Today, we returned to our all-school sing-along as well as invited our veterans and family to participate. We hope you enjoyed all of us celebrating you, Veterans.
We hope that e you felt the love, joy, and pride these children have for their country.
We celebrate and honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
Happy Veteran's Day,
--

Monthly Lifeskill Initiative
Initiative is our monthly lifeskill for November. Initiative means to do something because it needs to be done. Students practice this lifeskill daily by having classroom jobs, following our North SHINE procedures, and helping classmates.
Here is a video that highlights ways to take initiative at home. Please watch this video with your child #TakingIntiativeIsCool #They=You

Notes from the Nurse
November is Diabetes Awareness Month. Diabetes affects 25.8 million people and is marked by high levels of blood glucose. Diabetes is a chronic disease where the pancreas doesn’t produce enough insulin if any at all. Diet, insulin, and oral medication to lower blood glucose levels are the foundation of diabetes treatment and management. Education and self-care are important aspects of disease management that help people with diabetes lead normal lives. World Diabetes Day is celebrated November 14th. http://www.cdc.gov/diabetes, http://jdrf.org
Reunification Parent Letter
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Circumstances may occur at the school that require parents to pick up their students in a formalized, controlled release. The process of this controlled release is referred to as a reunification. A reunification may be necessary due to weather, a power outage, a gas leak, or an act of violence. The reunification process is a protocol that makes this process more predictable and less chaotic for all involved. If Noblesville Schools were to have a crisis situation which would require a reunification, parents would be notified via Parent Square, broadcasting a message via phone, email, and/or text. For this reason, it is important that the school in which your child attends has current contact information for you on file.
If a reunification is enacted, the school will communicate the crisis situation and the location in which you would need to pick up your child. The reunification sites are not on school property and consequently, students would be bussed to these off-site locations. Once at the reunification site, students may only be released to their custodial parents/guardians and/or emergency contacts that have been approved by the child’s parent/guardian prior to the incident and are recorded in our student database. Every individual must bring a photo identification card, preferably a state-issued driver’s license, to the reunification site to check-out their child. During check-in, identification and custody rights are confirmed. We hope that we do not have to enact a reunification, however, we want you to be clear of the procedures and expectations should the need arise. This process protects both the safety of the student and provides for an accountable change of custody from the school to a custodial parent or guardian.
