As we wrap up the first week of December, I want to express my gratitude for all you do to make our schools a successful place for our students to learn and grow.
December is a busy and exciting time in our schools. From winter concerts and special projects to the daily routines that keep our classrooms full of energy. This season is full of opportunities for creativity, learning, and connection.
To our staff: Thank you for your commitment to excellence, even as the days grow shorter and the pace quickens. Your efforts to provide engaging lessons and support students in reaching their potential do not go unnoticed.
To our families: Your partnership is incredibly valuable. Whether attending events, volunteering, or simply cheering your students on at home, your involvement strengthens our school community. Thank you for all you do to support our shared mission of putting every student on a pathway to success.
Bellevue Community School District is a special place. Let’s also remember to take care of ourselves and each other during this busy season. The winter break is just around the corner, and it will be a well-deserved opportunity to recharge and spend time with loved ones.
Thank you for all that you contribute to making our schools exceptional. Here’s to finishing 2024 strong and entering the new year with pride and excitement.
WINTER WEATHER PROCESS
Winter weather has arrived, and I want to share the key factors we consider when deciding whether to close schools, delay work, or cancel activities due to severe weather.
Our top priority is always the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families. Understanding the “why” behind these decisions is essential to keeping everyone informed and prepared. When deciding to close schools, we assess the safety of students and staff traveling by bus, car, or on foot. We also consider the severity of the weather, such as extreme cold, snow, or ice conditions, and the timing of weather events, whether they occur overnight or throughout the day.
During severe weather events, the Superintendent and the Director of Transportation closely monitor weather forecasts, including updates from the National Weather Service. To ensure a comprehensive understanding of regional conditions, we also consult with superintendents and transportation directors from our area.
When a decision is made, we strive to notify our Bronco families, students, and staff as quickly as possible. If you are not receiving calls or emails from the district, please contact your student's school to be sure we have updated information.
Thank you for your understanding as we navigate the winter season together.
LOST AND FOUND
Parents please check the lost and founds at both buildings. We have collected quite a few items already this year. Lost and found at the elementary can be found between the front office and gym. Thank you for your time and patience in this matter.
Items not claimed by the December holiday break will be donated.

- Students are keeping track of their earned horseshoes for Attendance. Check out the results already!
- We continue to celebrate our students with Students of the Week and pull PBIS tickets every three weeks. It is so much fun celebrating our students.
Elementary:
- Welcome Ms. Brumm as our new interventionist! We are excited to have her join our team.
- Students were provided an amazing opportunity to see the Brass band. Thank you, Ms. Baxter, for providing this experience to our little musicians.
