SCIS PRINCIPAL MESSAGE 3/21/24
March 21, 2024
A NOTE FROM MRS. RAWLINS
Dear Sloan Creek Families,
What a wonderful week at 'The Creek' as we returned from Spring Break. We have a lot of exciting things coming up as we begin the final quarter of the school year. It's officially "March Madness", and just as in a game of basketball, every quarter, every minute, and every second counts up until the final buzzer. The Sloan Creek staff is ready to finish Quarter 4 strong!
Please take a moment to read this newsletter as it is packed with information including the Solar Eclipse on 4/8, Open Field, updated calendar dates, and the yearbook order deadline. I would like to highlight that on Tuesday, March 26, from 6:00-8:00PM, the SCIS PTO is hosting Kirk Martin, founder of Celebrate Calm, in the LCDC Library for a Parenting Workshop. I hope you will all make time to join us for this impactful evening.
Finally, we hope to see you all at Coffee with the Principals tomorrow at 8:30AM!
Sloan Creek PROUD,
❤️ 🐆 Megan Rawlins
P.S. Good luck to our 6th grade girls trying out for WSMS Cheer today! 👏🏻👏🏻

SOLAR ECLIPSE - APRIL 8
On April 8th, the DFW Metroplex will be in the path of totality for a once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse. Lovejoy ISD is excited to share this celestial opportunity with our students and staff!
Weather permitting, students in kindergarten through high school will be allowed the opportunity to go outside to investigate the phenomena during totality. Because looking directly at the Sun is unsafe, Lovejoy students and staff will be provided certified ISO 12312-2 eclipse glasses. Students will be required to wear the glasses provided at all times except when given teacher permission to remove them during totality.
If you would like your student(s) to participate in the outdoor activities, please complete the permission slip and return it by April 2nd. Paper copies of the Solar Eclipse permission slips will be sent home with students tomorrow.
The campus will be closed to visitors between the hours of 12:00-2:00. If you need to check your child out, please do so between 10:30 and 12:00.
SCIS students are asked to bring a small towel or blanket to sit on the grass during viewing.
Read the full length District communication and FAQ's here.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS
HELPFUL TIPS:
- When communicating an absence please include the first and last name of your student in the email as well as the reason for the absence.
- Automated emails/phone calls are placed at the end of the day to notify parents of any absences that have not been communicated.
- Allow time for your student's attendance to be updated. I will always respond to your email indicating attendance has been updated. Thank you for your patience.
- Who to email - all attendance matters need to go to Julie Boardman, julie_boardman@lovejoyisd.net or scis_attendance@lovejoyisd.net (they both go to Julie)
