Consolidated Application - Due August 29
The Consolidated Application is now open (June 26 Memo - be sure to read it all). Due date for a 7/1 obligation date is Thursday, August 29. If the consolidated application is submitted after August 29, the obligation date will be the date submitted.
I was going to type out a big help article here, but I'll do us both a favor and send you over to Frank and Don's Consolidated App Help Document (Thanks to Frank Holes, MDE, and Don Beck, Calhoun ISD). A few highlights:
- Use the MDE Help Document. Start at the top, go to the bottom, don't skip around.
- There are new requirements for Homeless Title I Set-Aside (MDE Memo).
- There are new requirements for EL Program Evaluation.
- All Title I schools, including skipped schools, must complete the Title I Template.
Continuous Improvement - Getting a Solid Start for 24/25
August is the time to make sure your District and Building teams are set for the year and all the logistics for your meetings are in place (dates, times, location, communication). There are some solid tips about this in Day 1 of the MICIP Collaboration Series (Presentation | Video). Here are some additional resources that I have found very helpful:
- District-Led Continuous Improvement
- Building Teams and District Teams
- Forming a Team
- Leading and Managing Change
MICIP Plan "Due Date"
The revised school code requires that districts make school improvement plans available to the department by September 1 each year. While the term "school improvement plan" is used, our current construct and language for this is MICIP/Continuous Improvement. As we know, there is no Submit button in MICIP. Completing the MICIP process by having all active plans in the MICIP portfolio and using the monitoring tools fulfils your legal obligations. See this May 30 MDE memo for the official communication on this subject.
MASFPS Fall Professional Learning Institute
- Day 1 Keynote - Tiffany Winters-Kesslar (Bruman Group, Washington DC) - Federal Updates
- Day 2 Keynote - Dr. Joe Sanfelippo - Lead From Where You Are
- 18 breakouts from district practitioners, ISD partners, and MDE across many topics of interest
More Info
- The institute is October 3 and 4 at Weber's Inn in Ann Arbor. Use room code 6580406 for block room rate at Weber's Inn (book by 9/1/2024)
- Registration is currently open (details)
- We are hoping to get everyone registered early for planning purposes. If you are planning to use funds from the consolidated application, you could get prior approval from your regional consultant, register now, and pay later.
