Mayo News
February 12, 2024
Hello Mayo Families!
I truly hope you were able to enjoy a break from school, students and parents alike! The week before vacation we had an eclipse, two visits from the Acton Discovery Museum, and 3rd Quarter report cards were issued. I was also lucky to have a Principal for the Day, witness some great presentations in Grade 2, learned a lot about a variety of animals, and we had a special “substitute” in PE. (See below!)
This week we will be playing a Student Shout-Out Video on a loop on the school TVs (foyer and cafeteria). This fundraiser run by the Environment Club charged $1 per shoutout. They raised enough money to support some wonderful environmental causes. Job well done.
At the end of our first week back we will be holding our Choose to be Nice Celebration for “Friendship”. And of course next Monday (4/29) is Cardboard Day! We are taking a break this week back from MCAS and will begin again with the Math portion starting the following week.
A couple of notes:
Please speak loudly and clearly when calling in to the school answering machine.
Please refrain from parking in the front of the building after 3:05 as buses begin to arrive.
Please consider helping out at our Spring Cleanup Day on Sunday 4/28 from 10:00-12:00. Bring your desire to help and any gardening tools! (Raindate 5/5)
Welcome back!
Kindly,
Cariolan Kasper
Principal
Welcome Ms. Foley to 2nd Grade
We are thrilled to announce that Ms. Meg Foley will be joining our Grade 2 team. She is joining us from Thomas Prince School, so she is already within the WRSD! Meg is returning to the classroom after being a Special Educator at Thomas Prince and we are lucky to have her join Mayo! We are working out the logistics of her transition to Mayo, so in the interim, Mrs. Deb Henderson will be covering the class!

Cardboard Day
PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING FOR CLEAN-UP!
Dear Mayo Families,
Come help our students create and build with cardboard during their specials time on Monday April 29th!! Mayo students earned a day of engineering fun through their fundraising, and we need parent volunteers to make the day a success. This year we will use the gym and also have a quiet build zone in the library. A cori form is needed to volunteer.
Also, we are now accepting cardboard boxes, cartons, tubes, etc. in the front office.
Thanks!

APRIL 2024 Lunch Menu
The Kitchen Staff is asking parents to please talk to your child about their lunch choice. We have had some problems in the kitchen with students choosing and ordering one lunch choice the morning, but taking something else in the cafeteria, leaving the last few grades without the options they ordered. Thank you!
Bus Safety
THANK YOU ALL FOR ENSURING THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE SAFE BY:
1. not passing buses at any time on school grounds
2. dropping off students arriving by car in the back of the school.
3. only entering through the Front door or the Carpool door.
4. using caution and judgment at the front of the flagpole “rotary”.
