Lunch Program Update
School meals are an important part of fueling both healthy minds and bodies. This school year's meals may look a little different, in part due to food supply and labor challenges related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) public health emergency. At times, our lunch vendor may not receive expected food orders (delivery driver shortages) and have limited product availability (for example, discontinued products or not enough of a specific type of product). As a result, there may be last-minute menu changes. Know that our lunch vendor is thinking ahead to identify alternative food items that are nutritious and appealing for the students. We appreciate your patience, flexibility, and understanding as we work to provide school meals in a challenging and changing environment.
Hello from the PPCS Development Committee!
Dear Fellow Crew Parents,
We would like to introduce ourselves to you as the co-chairs of the Development Committee. We are Willma Fields and Christen Findley, two PPCS Board members who are working moms with kiddos of our own in Palouse Prairie Charter School. We know what it is like to have a busy schedule, many obligations, and more, but we also know how important the sustainability and growth of our school is to our children and the community. That is why we are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join us on the Development Committee. Now, we know what you’re thinking, you don’t have any spare time to give, and we understand that, which is why we are hoping for a full, dynamic team this year, so that we can help spread the load and benefit from a diverse collection of skills, ideas and talents.
The Development Committee has several responsibilities to achieve our mission of supporting the school with grant opportunities, fundraisers, and giving campaigns. Some of our other duties are:
Orchestrating fundraising activities with the Board and Parent Crew
Coordinating grant writing with teachers and school administration
Developing strategies for raising funds for our adventure program and other opportunities for authentic learning
Planning the Winter Celebration with Parent Crew
Launching social media campaigns to raise money for special projects
You might also be thinking: I don't know anything about fundraising, I've never written a grant proposal, and I hate asking for money. Luckily, you do not have to know anything about fundraising or grant writing to join this group! And you will not have to go around asking for money (unless you want to). There are so many ways that your talents and energy can help make our school successful -- please join us!
