West Haven Highlights

We had an amazing turn out for our 20th Anniversary Carnival. We loved seeing our community come together for the event. Thank you for making it an incredible night. If you follow WSD on instagram or facebook they posted a highlight reel of our carnival.

Next week is parent conference week and early out days. The schedule is different than normal.

On Monday and Tuesday students will be dismissed at 1:20. On Wednesday we will follow the normal early out schedule and students will be dismissed at 12:20. Thursday and Friday there will be No School as students are out for fall break.

We hope to see everyone at parent teacher conferences. We are excited to celebrate the work that your children are doing and the progress they are making.

Save the Date: We have a skate night planned for October 28th from 5:00-8:00

Subject: Halloween Costume Guidelines

Dear Parents,

As we approach Halloween, we’re excited to see our students celebrate with creativity and fun! To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, please review the following guidelines for Halloween costumes:

1. Cultural Sensitivity: Please avoid costumes that are culturally inappropriate, stereotypical, or racially insensitive.

2. Focus on Fun: Costumes should be fun and lighthearted. We ask that political themes be avoided.

3. Age-Appropriate: Remember that students of all ages will see your child’s costume. Costumes should not include blood, gore, or other disturbing elements.

4. Handheld Accessories: To prevent loss and accidents, please do not send your child with any handheld accessories. Costume accessories resembling weapons or deemed dangerous are not allowed.

5. Face Paint and Masks: Face paint should be applied at home and kept minimal for recognizability. Masks and full face coverings are not permitted, as they can hinder visibility and identification.

6. Dress Code Compliance: Finally, all costumes should align with our school dress code.

These guidelines are in place to ensure the safety and comfort of all our students. If a student’s costume is deemed inappropriate, they will be asked to remove it and may be sent home.

Queridos padres,

A medida que nos acercamos a Halloween, estamos emocionados de ver a nuestros estudiantes celebrar con creatividad y diversión! Para asegurarnos que es una experiencia segura y agradable para todos, por favor revise las siguientes pautas acerca de los disfraces de Halloween:

1. Sensibilidad Cultural: Por favor evite disfraces que son culturalmente inapropiados, estereotipos, o insensibles al racismo.

2. Enfocarse en lo divertido: Los disfraces deben ser divertidos y alegres.Les pedimos que todo tema político debe ser evitado.

3. De acuerdo a la edad: Recuerde que estudiantes de todas las edades verán los disfraces de sus hijos. Los disfraces no deben tener sangre,cosas violentas, o otros elementos inquietantes.

4. Accesorios de mano: Para prevenir pérdidas y accidentes, por favor no mande a su hijo(a)con ningún accesorio de mano. Accesorios de mano que se parezcan a armas o presenten cualquier peligro no está permitido.

5. Pinturas de cara o máscaras de cara: La pintura en la cara debe ser aplicada en la casa y mantenerse simple para poder ser reconocidos. Máscaras y cubrirse la cara no está permitido ya que cubre la visibilidad e identificación.

6. Código de Vestimenta: Finalmente, todos los disfraces deben ir de acuerdo al código de vestimenta de nuestra escuela.

Estas pautas están aquí para asegurar la seguridad y comodidad de todos nuestros estudiantes. Si el disfraz de un estudiante está considerado inapropiado, le pediremos que se lo quite y tal vez sea enviado a casa.

Until the option is available in Powerschool to excuse absences, you are welcome to use the form below to also excuse absences. You are also welcome to continue calling in absences. We appreciate the communication with our families.
