Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 22nd March 2024
A Magical Music Concert
Our Spring Term ended brilliantly with our Key Stage 2 music concert. The afternoon started with our Young Voices Choir belting out a medley from Matilda. We were entertained by a number of solo items and class performances. The children shared what they have been doing in their music topics. It was fabulous to see the super talent and skill that the children showed in their performances. Well done to all our Key Stage 2 Children.

Welcoming out neighbours
On Wednesday 20th March, which is St Cuthbert's Day, the school joined with our neighbours and some special visitors for a service to rededicate our school's St Cuthbert's Cross. The cross was installed 20 years ago, shortly after the new school building was opened. Our school stands on the site of the monastery where St Cuthbert acted as ‘Guestmaster’. We proudly continue welcoming visitors to our school in the friendly manner of St Cuthbert and it was lovely to welcome special guests who had fundraised to have the cross installed. Dean John led a wonderful service. The children sang a song and Year 6 shared prayers that they had written about St Cuthbert and what we can learn from his example.
School Update
It has been a very full term and as always the children have demonstrated such fabulous attitudes to all aspects of school life.
After Easter, Mrs Linkins, our Deputy Headteacher, will be returning to school from maternity leave. She will be taking over from Mrs Roberts to teach in Reception. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Spencer who stepped into the role of Acting Deputy Headteacher for the last two terms. She has been such a support and a key member of our school team.
I do hope you have a restful break over Easter with time with family and friends.
Kindest regards
Mr Holmes
Thank you Mrs Denney and Mrs Salden
At the end of our Key Stage 2 Music Concert, we said an emotional thank you to Mrs Salden and Mrs Denney who have served the school as chair and vice chair of governors. Together they have given over 20 years of service to the school. We are hugely grateful for all that they have done to help develop the school, enabling everyone to aspire, flourish and love. The children made special books for them full of drawings, paintings and special messages of thanks which we are sure they will cherish.
Thank You Mrs Roberts
In our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 Celebration worship this week we said an emotional thank you to Mrs Roberts who is leaving Ripon Cathedral School to take on an exciting new role. She has been a wonderful asset to the school and we will really miss her enthusiasm, compassion and care that she she given to all whom she has taught. Thank you Mrs Roberts and all the best for the future.

Easter Scene with Iron Egg
This year the theme of our Easter Egg Competition was superheroes. As always we were extremely impressed with the fantastic range of entries. Children from each class enjoyed visiting the hall to look at the wonderful designs and creations. Mr Nel, our chair of governors, had the unenviable job of picking the winners who were awarded Easter Eggs. A huge well done to everyone who entered and a massive thank you to the Friends for organising such a fun event.
Superstars of the Term
As it is the end of our term, this week we awarded our class superstars of the term. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 were revealed in our Celebration Worship. In Key Stage 2 our superstars were revealed in our end of term music concert. A huge well done to all our Superstars. We are very lucky to have such fabulous children who display such positive attitudes and strive to live out our vision on a daily basis.
Stay and Read
The children in Nursery had a lovely Stay and Read session with their parents. They really enjoyed sharing their books and exploring different stories. A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who came along.
