Cross Country
Boys & Girls Cross Country
Leading the Marysville Cross Country team this season are senior captain Lillian Rutallie and junior captain Gavin Forbes. The team welcomed eight new members this season: Brendan Koza, Mario Bellina, Brady Corbat, AJ Marcano, Cayden Parent, Adrianna Hepinstall, Harper Trobaugh, and Mady Bean! Returners include Gavin Forbes, Wyatt Sonntag, Jameson Glass, Jeremy Johnson, Korey LeVey, Lillian Rutallie, Addi Stevens, Ruby Somers, Joselyn Chapman, Lydia McBride, and Kenzie LeVey. This brings our total team count to 19 runners, including seven freshmen! Our seniors this season are Lillian Rutallie, Addi Stevens, and Ruby Somers. The team will be returning to many familiar courses this season, with an opportunity to run at Columbus County Park, a new course for us that will be the site of our regionals. Runners have already been setting new personal records and improving their times! Great team performances at our first MAC Blue Jamboree at Lake St. Clair Metro Park resulted in a first-place finish for the girls' team and a fourth-place finish for the boys' team! We have been focused on tracking mile splits at each race and emphasizing consistency while running with a teammate whenever possible. We look forward to partnering with Project Movement to incorporate some strength training into our practice plans this season to help with injury prevention and performance enhancement! Opportunities to incorporate fun into running this season so far have included the Midnight Glow Run, running the boardwalk near the Blue Water Bridge, the Slurpee Run, the Davis Dirt Road Run, and more! As we approach the mid-season mark, we are excited to see each individual runner strive to meet their personal goals while supporting and encouraging their teammates.

MMS Sideline Cheer
JVB Sideline Cheer
This fall, we’re thrilled to have formed a JVB Cheer team due to the strong interest! The squad has been putting in countless hours of hard work to enhance their skills. Their teamwork has been exceptional, and the team shows great promise. We eagerly anticipate cheering on the Vikings from the sidelines at every game! Go Vikings!
JVA Sideline Cheer
Varsity Sideline Cheer
As the Varsity Cheer team gears up for a thrilling season, excitement and determination are at an all-time high! This year, the squad is focused on elevating their performances, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, creativity, and athleticism. With a talented group of cheerleaders, they are dedicated to perfecting their routines and bringing unparalleled energy to every game.
Under the expert guidance of their coaches, the team has been hard at work during preseason, fine-tuning their stunts, jumps, and cheers. The commitment to rigorous training and conditioning is laying a solid foundation for what promises to be an exhilarating season.
Swim & Dive
Girls Swim & Dive
The Girls Swim and Dive team is small but mighty this year. A lot has happened since the start of the season:
Over 15 hours have been spent focusing on reviewing Olympic races, as well as recording and analyzing our own underwater and above-water technique. The Lady Vikings have raised over $1,200 in just a few short weeks through a fundraising alumni meet, a car wash, and a swim-a-thon. During the swim-a-thon, the team of 12 swam just short of the length of a marathon collectively in just 1 hour. The team was split into two groups for a friendly competition, with the Blue team coming out on top!
The Vikings are expected to come out on top in the Blue division this season. Our regular season began at home with an unscored Invitational benchmark meet, where the Vikings posted strong times and scores for the start of the season.
The quest for success continues as we race at the Warren Woods Tower relays on the 6th and start the dual meet season on the 10th at Lakeview. Our dual meet home opener will feature a great matchup against Chippewa Valley on September 17th which we won in a close fashion.
Alumni Meet
Girls Golf
Girls Golf
The 2024/2025 Girls Golf season is off to an amazing start! We currently hold a 5-1 record, highlighted by a big win over our rivals from St. Clair. Our team features a mix of experienced players and newcomers, creating a dynamic atmosphere that fosters both growth and camaraderie. Everyone is enjoying their time on various courses while competing against local schools, and we’ve seen some impressive individual performances.
As we prepare for the upcoming MAC tournament and regionals at Heather Hills Golf Club, our focus remains on teamwork and personal improvement. We’re also working on honing our skills through practice sessions and friendly competitions. The support from our coaches and the encouragement from teammates have made this season even more special. We can’t wait to see how far we can go this year!
Boys Tennis
Boys Tennis
The attitude and effort of our tennis team have been outstanding this season! We had three days of competition before the first day of school, where we played short-handed but remained competitive throughout.
With the start of school, we welcomed two new players, bringing our roster to full strength. In our first match as a complete team, we tied Marine City, a team we had previously lost to in a four-team tournament. It's been exciting to see our 12-player roster in action, with six or seven newcomers stepping up for each varsity match. They are learning quickly and making great progress!
We invite everyone to come check us out and support the team as we continue to grow and improve!
Volleyball
7th Grade Girls Volleyball
8th Grade Girls Volleyball
The MMS 8th grade volleyball season is off to an exciting start! We have 18 talented players and 2 dedicated student managers ready to go. This week marks our first two home games, and the girls are eager to showcase their teamwork. They’re a fantastic group who bond both on and off the court. It’s shaping up to be an amazing season! Go Vikings!
9th Grade Girls Volleyball
The freshman volleyball team is making great strides every day in practice, and their hard work is paying off in games. They’ve faced some tough competition in weekend tournaments across Michigan and have shown incredible tenacity during regular-season play. With their positive attitudes, strong work ethic, and great sportsmanship, we’re proud of their progress so far this season and excited to see how they continue to grow!
JV Girls Volleyball
The JV girls volleyball team has made a strong start to the season! We’re excited to have a roster of 17 players, including 12 sophomores, 3 freshmen, and 2 dedicated managers. Captains Lana Berger and Emma Spresser have done an excellent job leading the team toward success. We've put in significant effort early on to prepare for our upcoming league games, and our current league record stands at 2-0 with more matches ahead. As a team, we look forward to demonstrating our growth every time we step on the court!
Girls Varsity Volleyball
The varsity volleyball program is excited to continue its legacy of success.
This season, the Vikings are competing in the MAC White conference, driven by the leadership of captains Katherine Gwisdala and Kendal Quain, along with returning players Krista Basic, Teagan Berger, Addison Mynsberge, Camry Eveningred, and Addilyn Vagi. The roster also features talented juniors Jillian Biewer, Emma Boddy, Alycia Miller, Ella Paterson, and Steffaney Utter, as well as sophomores Camryn MacPherson and Lillian Spadafore, and freshman Claire McClellan.
The team has made a strong impression in early tournaments, going up against some of the best programs in the state. Their hard work and dedication are paying off, and they would love to have your support at both home and away games! Let’s rally behind the Vikings as they aim for another successful season!
Boys Soccer
JV Boys Soccer
The JV boys soccer team has been competing at a high level this season, demonstrating resilience in both wins and losses. With a sizable squad, each player is making strides and improving every day. This team truly embodies the 'never quit' spirit of the Vikings, consistently pushing through challenges. As they head into the second half of the season, the players are excited and determined to build on their progress and finish strong. Go Vikings!
Varsity Boys Soccer
The 2024 boys' varsity soccer season is in full swing! This year's team is led by our four captains: seniors Connor Martin, Dylan Moses, and Kaleb Beltramo, along with junior Luke Oles. In total, we have 20 hardworking and dedicated student-athletes. Although we currently hold a 5-4 record, the boys remain focused on our end goals for the season. There is still plenty of soccer to be played, and everything we strive to achieve is still within reach.
We compete in a very challenging MAC Blue division, and the boys understand that every game requires a high level of play. Despite suffering a few tough losses, this group has a never-quit attitude and plays hard until the final whistle. They are true ambassadors of the game, demonstrating the utmost integrity and respect for their opponents, embodying the true meaning of sportsmanship.
One moment that stands out this season occurred during a match against Port Huron High School, where we were leading 7-0. I noticed the Port Huron coach put in a player with limited playing ability. Without hesitation, our boys expressed their desire to let this player score a goal. When that goal went in, the stadium erupted, and the player was overjoyed with excitement. Players from both teams were giving him high-fives and congratulating him on the field.
Another strong character trait of this team is their support not only for their teammates but also for other Marysville sports athletes. A couple of weeks ago, they attended a varsity volleyball game and helped the team overcome a 2-set deficit to win in five exciting sets. The volleyball team returned the support by coming out to our guys' soccer match against Warren Mott. The energy they brought helped lift the boys to four goals in the second half, resulting in a 4-0 victory. I know we will continue to see this support throughout the remainder of the fall season.
Lastly, I want to highlight our upcoming rivalry match against St. Clair on Friday, the 20th, at the SC4 soccer field at 7 PM. Come out and cheer the boys on as they battle for the traditional rivalry trophy!
Football
8th Grade Football
8th grade football practice kicked off on September 3rd, and we currently have 36 players on the team. The players have been putting in a lot of effort to prepare for their first scrimmage at Port Huron Central Middle School on Wednesday, September 18th, at 4:15 p.m. We’re excited to help the players develop strong football fundamentals, good sportsmanship, and a solid understanding of the Viking offense and defense.
Coaches: John Schleder and Gage Blankenship
JVB Football
The JV B Vikings are looking forward to an exciting season ahead! The coaching staff has already noticed great potential in the team as they kick off the year. The players are eager to learn, willing to listen, and motivated to succeed. They started the season with a tough loss to a strong Warren Woods Tower team but quickly bounced back with a solid 22-6 victory over Lakeview. We have high hopes for the rest of the season and can’t wait to continue working with this wonderful group of young gentlemen. Go Vikings!
Coaches: Johnson and Disser
JVA Football
The JV-A Football team is thrilled to be competing this fall! They’ve been diligently working on their fundamentals and putting in the effort to ensure a successful season. After a hard-fought loss to Almont, 27-21, the JV-A Vikings have bounced back with two impressive victories over Port Huron and Center Line. They’re set to continue their season this Thursday with an away game at South Lake. Let’s go, Vikings!
Varsity Football
After a tough opening week loss to the state finalist Almont Raiders, the varsity football team has made a strong comeback with two impressive victories as they gear up to face division rival South Lake this week. The Vikings secured a solid win against Hazel Park in week 2, followed by another strong performance in week 3 against the new division opponent, Centerline Panthers.
This Friday, the team will be back on their home turf, and they’re also looking forward to next week’s exciting homecoming matchup against Eastpointe. We invite everyone to come out and support our Vikings as they strive for continued success! Go Vikings!

Notes From the Athletic Director
Athletic Director - Ryan Biewer
This fall season has already seen several weeks of exciting competitions, and it's been truly uplifting to witness our Viking student-athletes rise to the occasion and improve each day. The support from fans, parents, and the community has been nothing short of amazing. I've seen the boys soccer team come together to cheer on the volleyball team, while volleyball players have shown up to support the soccer games. Additionally, our cross country runners have taken time away from their own practices to show their support for the boys tennis team.
I continually emphasize that fostering a culture of support among teams enriches our experiences within Vikings Athletics. It’s heartening to see our athletes embracing this spirit of camaraderie, and I look forward to more moments of unity as the season progresses. Together, we’re building a vibrant community that uplifts each other both on and off the field!
