Clackamas Middle College
September 2024
Welcome Back!
Message from Principal Sien
On behalf of the CMC Staff, I would like to welcome you to the 2024-2025 School Year! This year we look forward to ensure each CMC Community Member is affirmed through our shared values and beliefs, and we are committed to build a culture of college readiness. We are excited to continue our relationships with our returning students, and we are eager to get to know students new to Clackamas Middle College. This looks to be an exciting school year where we will work with our students to build college readiness skills through daily classes and advisory, and continue to improve our community culture of belonging, peer collaboration and relationships through activities both in and out of school. As the new year gets underway, please feel free to reach out if you need anything to help us reach our mission to: provide an inclusive, safe and supportive community of respect with high expectations in a student-centered environment that cultivates and prepares independent learners for individual pathways to the future.

CMC Health & Wellness Symposium: Wild Wellness Walks at the Zoo
September 27th
Walking is one of the easiest ways to boost your mood — and when you add zoo animals to the mix, that’s a prescription for some wild wellness. CMC College Prep students will be going on a field trip to the zoo where they will complete a wellness walk with health-related themes. The walk highlights fun facts about the animals we will see along the way, along with some human wellness tips from Kaiser Permanente. Note: Signed permission slips will be required for each student.
Parent volunteers needed to chaperone from 9:45am-1:30pm on September 27th. Please contact carlaculley@gmail.com if you are interested.

Building Updates!
As we look to support the CMC Community during the new school year, we are focusing on creating a productive and safe environment for our students. To help with this, we are currently in the process of completing many capital projects to improve the experience of our students, families, and staff. Currently, we are completing the installation of a new roof on our campus. This will help to ensure we stay warm and dry during the cold, wet, winter months in Oregon. To add to this, we are also installing new heating and ventilation units to help with the air flow in our building. To help with school safety, we are in the process of securing our campus with a fence and gates to enclose our campus from the traffic on 82nd Avenue. We are also in the process of locking and securing our front door with a consistent, reliable check-in system to identify community members who have authorization to be on the CMC Campus. All of these capital projects at Clackamas Middle College are expected to be completed within the first two months of the school year. Safety is a top priority for us as we look to improve campus security for the 2024-2025 School Year.
