A Note from the Principal
Good afternoon, Whitman Families -
I hope you had a restful and enjoyable holiday break. With only two more weeks until winter break, we are working hard here at Whitman to stay healthy and engaged. There is so much learning to do now until the end of the semester, which will go quickly once we come back from winter break.
I was able to substitute in an 8th grade ELA class on Monday, and the lesson was on my literary hero, Maya Angelou. I was fortunate to have seen Dr. Angelou speak when I was a young high school English teacher. Her poise and strength still inspire me today, and I was thrilled to see the way our students responded to her poem, "Still I Rise." Whitman students continue to rise to the occasion. Thank you, families, for supporting them in their educational journey.
Have a lovely weekend!
In partnership,
Sarah Dianich

Great Things Happening at Whitman
7th grade parent, Thomas Dietrich, visited Whitman's German I class on Friday, November 8, 2024. As a Swiss native, Mr. Dietrich put together a wonderful presentation about Switzerland and pointed out some regional differences between Germany and its neighbor to the South. We also listened to a music sample and got to taste some Swiss candy and chocolate. Students appeared interested and asked good questions at the end.
Danke für den Klassenbesuch, Herr Dietrich!
