Mosier Community School Newsletter
September 2024
Dear Mosier Community School Families,
As we prepare to begin another exciting school year, I want to extend a warm welcome back to each of you. I hope your summer was filled with relaxation, joy, and cherished moments with your loved ones.
Thank you to all who attended our Community Open House last week. It was wonderful to see so many of you reconnecting with teachers, exploring classrooms, and catching up with friends. Your presence and enthusiasm truly set the tone for a great start to the year, and we’re grateful for your continued support.
We are thrilled to welcome students back to school on Tuesday, September 3. Our teachers and staff have been working tirelessly to create an engaging and supportive learning environment, and we can’t wait to see the halls and classrooms filled with the energy and excitement that our students bring.
As we embark on this new school year, we remain committed to fostering a positive, nurturing, and academically stimulating atmosphere where every student can thrive. We look forward to partnering with you to ensure that your student has a successful and rewarding year ahead.
Thank you for being an essential part of the Mosier Community School family. We’re excited to begin this journey together, and we can’t wait to see what this year holds for our students.
See you on Tuesday!
Warm regards,
Michelle Dawkins, Executive Director

Gratitude for our Maintenance Staff and Community Partners
We are grateful for our hardworking maintenance staff and our community partners! This summer they worked hard at preparing our buildings for the new school year. Mitch Leslie, our lead maintenance staff, and Dale Kennedy, spent a lot of time refreshing the school, taking care of the grounds, and clearing out vegetation and items no longer used.
In addition, Scott Piatt, from Piatt Construction, helped to transform Gizmo to our wonderful new Mosier Community Preschool. New flooring, paint, and windows have made a huge improvement. Next steps will be working on creating a creative space outside for our preschoolers to explore and play. We will be also working on the exterior front entrance and landscaping. If you would like to help with planting the preschool troughs by providing plants and soil and/or helping to plant, let us know by sending an email to Michelle Dawkins at michelle.dawkins@nwasco.k12.or.us.
Rick's Custom Fencing is our contractor for the installation of the middle school fencing. We are patiently waiting for gates to complete the installation. After the fencing is complete, our middle school students will be helping to design the front area. Land Electric has also been providing electrical service upgrades in our main building and is always willing to help with last minute electrical needs. We also want to thank Green Thumb Projects for stepping in when needed!
Parent Square for School Communication
New for 24-25, Mosier Community School will be using Parent Square as our main communication tool for school information.

Pick up and Drop off Procedures
To help make morning drop off and afternoon pick up safe and efficient for students and staff, please have your student ready to leave the car as soon as a staff member welcomes or dismisses them. If you need more time for drop off, please park and walk your student to the southeast gate. Families should say their good byes at the gate so that the students may begin the school day. For safety, only students, staff, and adults who are volunteering or have business with our office will be allowed past the gates.
In the afternoon, if you are picking your student(s) up from school, please remain in your car until a staff member has called your student for pick up. If you need more time to buckle up, please pull into the parking lot to allow traffic to continue on and keep our pick up lines running smoothly. All students being picked up or walking home must exit using the main campus gate.
ALL preschool students need to be walked into the preschool to be signed in and out by a registered parent or caregiver. Please only park in the designated parking lot.
On the first day of school, families are invited to walk their student to class for drop off. After the first day all students should be picked up at the main gate area.
NWASCO Transportation
Mosier Community School is fortunate to have a supportive sponsor district that can provide limited transportation for students to and from Wahtonka to Mosier Community School. For information regarding transportation please visit NWASCO Transportation Department.
School Breakfast and Lunch Program
Nutrition is an important part of learning for all of our students. Mosier Community School will be providing breakfast and lunch for ALL students including milk, at no cost. Students may bring a lunch from home and they have the option of purchasing a milk for $0.50.
New this year will be a salad bar that will have seasonal lettuce, fruits, and vegetables for our students to select for their lunch in addition to the daily entree.

MCS School Supply Drive and Main Street Mosier
Thank you for everyone that donated to our FIRST Mosier Community School Supply Drive. It was a great success and will help our students have the tools they need to learn throughout the year. We want to extend a special thank you to our friends at Main Street Mosier and their generous donation of $500. This money will go toward addition school supplies and also for supplies in our new Makerspace room. We are so thankful for their support and looking forward to partnering with them on future events.
Tiger Pride T-Shirts Available
We have Mosier Tiger Pride t-shirts available for purchase. The cost is $10 per shirt. They are available for purchase on Thursdays afterschool at pick up.
