Moore Street School Lead Learner's Address:
Greetings To Each Of You!
Parents we are seeing a rising trend in the number of absences and tardies. Please make every effort to get your child to school each day on time. We are meeting with students individually and outlining their attendance recovery plans. Please support our efforts to protect instructional time. Thank you parents for responding to our plea. Now let's continue to push forward. We must protect instructional time!!!
The Mid-month EOC administration began at MSS today. It will continue throughout this week. Support your child by ensuring they get ample rest and are here on time to receive a quality breakfast before testing. Also remember the main administration of EOCs and BEACON testing will be the first week of December. We are working hard to ensure every child has what he/she needs to be successful.
Our PBIS behavior focus for the 2nd 45 days is appropriate language. Parents encourage your child to be cognizant of their surroundings. Be sure they know who their targeted and non targeted audiences are. One strategy we are using here at MSS is teaching replacement words. We encourage you to choose a strategy to use at home. Academically we are using instructional videos to extend student learning (click the link below to view the slide show about how to use videos to extend student learning) as well as individualized courses of study to meet the student where he/she is. We are using Progress Learning to measure mastery of standards covered. Students should be able to have rich conversations about their progress.
Parents please see flyers below for upcoming Family Engagement Activities. Junior/Senior Transcript Audit Nov. 9th. Our Family Thanksgiving Lunch in conjunction with our Annual Fall Into Success Program is Nov. 16th. Also attached below is an updated copy of our Parent Compact and Parent Engagement Plan.
Our enrollment is increasing daily. With the addition of more students we are less tolerant with chronic behavior issues. In an effort to not suspend students out of school we are using short term evening school placements. If a student is assigned to evening school for 3 days the student will not be allowed to return to the regular day school setting until they have successfully completed the required days in evening school. An absence does not count as a successful completion of the day. Parents please remind your son/daughter about our dress code: hoods, tights (as stand alone pants) and slides are NOT permitted.
Parents please pay close attention to the guidance for students under the age of 16 attending sporting events. Flyer posted below.
Our Evening School Program (ESP) is up and running. ESP is great for remediation, enrichment, and attendance recovery. Evening School hours are Monday and Friday Asynchronous (virtual) and Tuesday-Thursday in person from 2:30-6:00. Our attendance recovery plans have been implemented and students are being required to attend our ESP in person session to make up days missed.
If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to reach out. Again the phone number is 478-353-8400. We are here to serve. Thank you for being a valuable part of our Dublin City School (DCS) family.
