What is Happening at OAC
The Wizard of OAC
The Wizard of OAC
Our Middle and High School students present OAC's very first school musical: The Wizard of OAC. A creatively adapted version of the classic story The Wizard of Oz. Students from Beilby, Johnson, Moloney, Schulte, Connolly, Ebbott, and Hedberg's classrooms will shine as they bring the story to life in a cohesive performance of on-stage dialogue, song, dance, and pre-recorded video. Thank you to the teachers, classroom teams, and specials teachers who are working hard to make this opportunity possible for our students!
Performances will take place in the OAC gym at 10:30am on Thursday May 2, 2024 and Friday May 3, 2024.
Teacher Appreciation Week - May 6-10, 2024
It is that time of year when we have the opportunity to express our appreciation to our wonderful Teachers, Aides, and Staff at The Ottawa Area Center.
This year, Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-10, 2024. Our theme this year is “Nacho Average Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week”.
If you would like to make a monetary donation to offset the costs, please return your donations to your student’s teacher in the envelope sent home in backpacks.
If you would like to assist in some other way or have questions please contact Amanda Meengs at ameengs@oaisd.org or Brenda Seymour at bseymour@oaisd.org.
Thank you again for your help in showing OAC Teachers and staff your appreciation for all they do.
Tulip Time Information
A reminder that Ottawa Area Center will once again be participating in the annual Tulip Time Kinderparade on Thursday, May 09, 2024. We are so excited!
Students take part in the Kinderparade by walking, being pushed in wheelchairs, strollers or wagons or on one of the two floats. It is great fun and a thrill to have the crowd cheer for us!
For those students not participating in the parade itself, we have an area at Kollen Park where we watch from the sidelines and cheer for our peers! You are welcome to join us!
Please refer to the Tulip Time Parade Map for the route and where OAC will be watching.
As a reminder, students who attend school Thursday, May 09, will be going to the parade. If you have not already decided for your student to march, your student will be watching the parade at Kollen Park.
Students will be loading the bus and heading home directly after the parade ends. Depending on traffic and your proximity to Holland, your student may arrive home up to an hour later than their normal time.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Ottawa Area Center Office – 616-738-8960.
As a reminder if you have volunteered to march in the the parade with the Ottawa Area Center, Dutch costumes are required. OAC will be unable to loan costumes to volunteers this year. Volunteers will need to provide their own costumes to march in the parade. If you are meeting OAC at Devos Field House, please refer to the Field House Parking Map for places to park near the field house. Parking is not allowed in the field house parking lots.
Please review the pictures below for guidance on what to wear to march in the parade with OAC.

OAC Prom 2024
OAC had prom for our 16-26 year old students last Friday. This years theme was a 50's Sock Hop. Thank you to our OAC Prom committee that worked tirelessly to make this a fun event for students, staff and families.
A special shout out to Curtis Avison from Avison Entertainment who donated his DJ skills to keep everyone kicking up their dancing shoes.
Thank you to the OAC staff who brought their families and volunteered their time and to all of our families who attended this year's prom.
24-25 OAC Final Draft Calendar
We are pleased to share with you our final draft 2024-2025 OAC Calendar. The calendar will be final after it is approved by the OAISD Board of Education. Thank you for your patience during this process.
