Success Story from Gadsden Elementary.🐾
Roberto, a 6-year-old boy diagnosed with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), spent his first two years in a private school in town. However, due to his impairment, he struggled with reading, falling behind in both reading and writing. Unfortunately, this made him a target for bullies, as he also had difficulty following instructions and overcoming the challenges of his disorder.
Concerned about his struggles, Roberto’s parents decided to transfer him to our school (Gadsden Elementary), where he was placed in a specialized program to receive interventions for his areas of need. Recognizing his potential, his parents also encouraged him to join the school band. At the age of 9, Roberto began participating in band practices and activities, quickly becoming involved in not just one but two instruments.
With the support of his academic team and his involvement in the band, Roberto soon overcame his academic struggles, nearly reaching grade level in all academic areas. He even became proficient in one of the state language tests. Now, Roberto performs in the band and eagerly welcomes teachers from across the district. He is excited to visit Paris this coming winter, where the band will perform.
Sincerely,
Ana Martinez
