News from the Admin Team
Knights Family,
Thank you to our Kendall PTO who has helped us recognize and celebrate our Custodial Staff on Custodian's Day and Teachers on World Teacher Day. It was great to be recognized with yummy treats and words of affirmation. We appreciate all of the support that they give our staff.
We will end the first nine-weeks next week before we leave for Fall Break. Please encourage your student to make sure that they have completed all make up work if they were absent.
Thank you to many of you who we have seen on campus for parent teacher conferences. If you haven't scheduled yours yet with your child's teacher, please make arrangements to come in and visit to get updates on your child's progress and connect with their teacher. This is an important time to build these relationships and partnerships.
PTO will be hosting our first Trunk or Treat on October 22nd at 5:30 at KES. Please plan to attend this free family event.
Have an amazing weekend!
We love our Knight families,
Jennifer Escamilla, Principal and Chelsea Allison, Assistant Principal
Free and Reduced Lunch Application
Families are encouraged to complete an application for Free and Reduced Meals available here or return the completed paper form to any campus office. Applications must be completed each school year. If you had benefits last year and have not completed a new application this school year, your benefits will expired on September 24th.
Attendance
Our attendance for last week was 97.07 and our goal is 97%!! Way to go Knights. Continue sending all attendance letters and questions to Laura.Kanter@boerneisd.net.
Arrival Time
We are beginning to see students arriving before 7:05 AM at the front of our building. Please know that staff do not begin their duties until 7:05 AM, meaning your child is unattended at this time. To ensure safety for all students, we ask that you drop off students between 7:05AM and 7:30 AM.
Lunch Visitors
Our campus is now open for lunch visitors to begin joining their student at lunch. You must check in at the front office and receive a visitor badge before you are permitted access to the cafeteria. Once in the cafeteria, you may sit at the designated parent tables closest to the stage or make your way outside to the outdoor eating area. Your student is the only one permitted to eat with you. Please refrain from inviting other students to join you. Additionally, we ask that you do not stay in the cafeteria after your student's lunch time is over. You will need to make your way back to the front at this time and allow your student to rejoin their class.

Tardies
Please remember that school begins at 7:35 and instruction takes place immediately. Therefore, it is important that all students get to school on time. Please partner with us to ensure your child arrives on time and can engage in the instruction beginning at 7:35. As always, we understand things happen occasionally and you may run late. If you arrive late with your child, please park and walk them into the front office to assist them in signing in and receiving a tardy slip.
Birthday Treats
Birthday treats must be store bought with a nutrition label. This is a BISD procedure that has been in place since 2018. Treats from bakeries must also include nutrition labels.
Please view the BISD Severe Food Allergy Management Plan for more information at https://www.boerneisd.net/Page/8985.
Page 13 states: All foods brought to campus for special occasions such as birthday parties, holiday parties, any special occasion MUST have an FDA approved label with ingredients and allergens legibly listed.

Creating a "Culture of Excellence" at KES
Parent Survey
Please take a moment to share your thoughts on how we can continue to create a culture of excellence at KES. We value your feedback.
Share the Wins
At Kendall, we love to celebrate our staff and share the wins each day. Every time we give a staff member a shout out, we link it to one of our core values. If you see your child's teacher or any staff member going above and beyond to live out our core values, please send a shout out via email to Jennifer or Chelsea. We would love to pass the shout outs along!
Knoteworthy Knights
Congrats to our Knoteworthy Knights this week!! We are so excited to honor students each week and see them taking pictures with their signs back at home! Keep up the good work, Knights!
Player of the Game Brock Hiller
Brock shows great character, even when no one is looking. He offers to open and hold doors, helps younger students, and helps with anything that needs to be done in the classroom and around campus. He is extremely respectful all the time. He never says an unkind word to or about anyone and defends and protects the underdog. He is greatly respected by his classmates because of his honesty and integrity. Brock is an athlete that takes pride in his accomplishments but is always willing to stop to help others. Congratulations Brock!
