Bear Blast
October 4, 2024
Happy Friday, Bradley Families,
This is the last week in this first term; all students' grades will be finalized by Friday, October 11. Please be sure to check in with your children and their grades to ensure they are current and accountable. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher(s).
Some of you may remember that at the end of last year, we sent out a parent survey that asked an abundance of questions regarding your knowledge of the operations of the school. Our intent was to gather information on the perceptions of what we do. We, as educators, hear the terms we use and are so deeply embedded in our careers we lose sight that our acronyms or terms are not normal vocabulary used in most homes. There are so many moving parts to what we do, and we'd like to begin a quarterly "town hall" or "open house" evening where parents and community members are invited to attend to ask questions based on the predetermined topics. The intent is to gather your input on what you have questions about, or what you'd like clarification on, and then prepare the individuals who are over those areas/departments to be present to answer questions. Below you will find a link to a Google Form soliciting topic ideas that you'd like more information about. Then we will go with the most popular topics for the meeting. We endeavor to be open and transparent with what we do; and we realize that not everyone sees and deals with what we do daily.
Parents/guardians, we need your help on this next topic. We are having a large number of our student population making complaints about others making fun of the way they look. The complaints are all the same, "Someone made fun of me for how I look," (height, weight, hair color and/or texture, eye color, skin color), it is essentially ALL kids, no matter what they look like. In saying that, we will not tolerate any use of unkind words or slurs. I would love for you to have a conversation with your child(ren) about the impact that words have -- words do matter, how we speak to others matters! We will be having a character lesson school-wide this week discussing this and asking our students to live by the kindness standard first and the Golden Rule next -- if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
I appreciate you all; please let me know if you have any questions.

COUNSELORS' CORNER
In addition, we've been conduction "minute meetings" with students, which are quick check-ins designed to help us get to know our students better. These brief conversations provide valuable insights into how our students are feeling and what support they might need as we move through the school year.
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our students' success!
BMS Counseling
Hola familias.

Students who violate dress and grooming standards established for such an activity may be removed or excluded from the activity for a period determined by the principal or sponsor and may be subject to other disciplinary action, as specified in the Student Code of Conduct.
Dress Code Enforcement
To ensure effective and equitable enforcement of this dress code, school staff shall enforce the dress code consistently using the requirements below.
School administration and staff shall not have the discretion to vary the requirements in ways that lead to discriminatory enforcement. Campuses may have a more restrictive dress code with approval from the Campus Improvement Committee and the Department of School Administration if a more restrictive policy aligns with the “Purpose” defined in the policy.
