Weekly Memo
Some thoughts for the starting school year
Hi Everyone,
We hope you are enjoying the week. What a beautiful day (70 degrees on the last day of October? I'll take it). We have an exciting weekend coming up. Tonight our Drama Club will be debuting their fall performance "Treading Waters" at 7:00. Tomorrow we host football playoffs and on Saturday, we have four athletic teams (field hockey, boys soccer, cross country, volleyball) competing in the playoffs. It's going to be busy, but a fun-filled weekend. We hope you can come out and support all of our Wildcats.
Just a reminder as we navigate playoffs, that our spectators represent York High School and should practice good sportsmanship at all times. We need to remember that our words and actions matter and what we say whether it is to our own team, the other team, or the officials is important. Our fans have the opportunity to see our student-athletes compete at high levels and can help celebrate their successes, let's enjoy our weekend and the playoffs and bring home some more hardware to YHS.
Are you interested in supporting Project Graduation? We are really fortunate to have YORKWISE as a sponsor for our chem-free post graduation night, but they need your help with fundraising. If you would like more information about how you can support, please reach out to our YHS representative, Grecia Caraballo.
The YHS music department had 26 students accepted into the southern Maine, District 1 Honors Festival ensembles, and 3 band students (a record for YHS) were accepted into Jazz All State! With regard to the latter, sophomore Nathaniel Plocinski received the highest score in the entire state for any instrument on Bari Saxophone. Congratulations!
Enjoy the rest of your week and have a safe weekend. Just a reminder that we "fall back" with Daylight Savings on Sunday, which means Monday morning will be a bit brighter than it has been these last few weeks (at least for a little while). As always, if you need anything or have any questions please reach out to Liza or me.
Thanks,
Amanda
York High School is proud to announce our annual Veterans Day event, a tradition that brings our staff and students together to show appreciation and gratitude to the brave men and women who have served our country. Next Friday, November 8th at 8:00, we will be hosting a school-wide assembly followed by a special breakfast for the veterans who join us.
To make this event even more meaningful, we will be creating a slideshow featuring photos of the veterans in our lives. We kindly request your assistance in making this a success by sending pictures of your veterans to gcaraballo@yorkschools.org. With your help, we can create a memorable tribute to the heroes who have dedicated their lives to serving our nation.
Thank you in advance for your support and participation in honoring our veterans the way they truly deserve.
