September 30th
Greetings Mustangs!
This past week, we hosted our Annual Title I Meeting and Curriculum Night. Many thanks to the families that attended our Annual Title I Meeting and Curriculum Night! The purpose of this meeting was to inform parents of the school’s participation under Title I and explained the requirements, as well as the right of parents to be involved in the education of their child. Please use the link below to complete the Evaluation Survey Link if you didn't have the opportunity to do so on Tuesday. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!
October is National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month. Bullying Prevention Month is a nationwide call to action around educating communities as to their roles in bullying prevention and to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention. Fulton County and the Office of Student Supports are excited to recognize October as National Bullying Prevention Month and October 24th-28th as Red Ribbon Week. We will kick off the month of October on Monday, October 3rd by encouraging all staff and students to WEAR ROYAL BLUE and #FCSBEKIND.
National Custodial Workers Recognition Day is Monday, October 2nd. I am appreciative to the hardworking custodians that we have here at Cliftondale Elementary School. Please take time to thank our custodians. We encourage students/parents to write a sweet message or draw a picture for our custodial team members as we are very appreciative to them for their services.
I am excited to share that Cliftondale now provides school-based counseling services to our K-5th grade students through CHRIS 180. Counseling sessions take place on-site throughout the school day to provide accessible mental health care. Additional information is accessible on our website or contact Cliftondale's Guidance Counselor, Dr. Ford, at fordb@fultonschools.org.
Great News! Devices are in! THANK YOU to our amazing Device Coordinator, Ms. Allen in the Media Center for going above and beyond to get devices in the hands of our students! Please expect your 3RD-5TH grade student to begin bringing his/her device home within the next two weeks. Students are responsible for caring for their device, and should always use the appropriately. Device agreement forms for parents/guardians have been loaded into the parent portal in Infinite Campus. Please review and sign this form as soon as possible.
Can you believe it's the end of September? This month has truly flown by and in no time, it will be Thanksgiving Break and the Winter Holiday! As we approach the upcoming holidays, it important to remind parents and families that candy, desserts, baked goods (store bought/homemade), or any other edible items are not to be sold or distributed at school or on the bus unless approved in advance by school administration. Per our Student Code of Conduct, students who do not adhere to this expectation are subject to disciplinary action for violation 7A: Failure to Follow Rules and all candy or food items will be confiscated. Please discuss this expectation and possible consequences with your student(s) as this will be taken very seriously. This is due to recent national and state reports about students sharing edible items and synthetic medications with other students that contain very harmful substances.
Please know that taking this measure will help us maintain a safe environment for all students. You can help us protect your student(s) by requesting that they not eat anything given to them by another person, anything that they have not brought from your home or anything not in its original sealed package.
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping all of our students safe at school!
We are in Round Two of the Redistricting Meeting. At the October 6, 2022 - 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Langston Hughes High School, the district will present alternative proposals for new attendance zones. Community members will offer comments on strengths and weaknesses of each plan in facilitated small-group discussions. I encourage all parents to attend these sessions. Additional information pertaining the rezoning is accessible via the Redistricting section of this newsletter of by CLICKING HERE.
Lastly, CONGRATULATIONS to our newly elected Executive PTA Board at Cliftondale Elementary School!
Kind Regards,
Principal Canty
