IMPORTANT! Please Read
Greetings Instructors!
As mentioned in my previous newsletter, HSC will be introducing a registration fee starting Fall 2024. Our fees are modest compared to other learning centers (ours are $15 for in-person classes and $5 for live-online classes).
Over the past month, I have researched and consulted with charter personnel to determine the best way for HSC to implement this fee. Additionally, I have explored how HSC can support instructors in collecting tuition by introducing policies aimed at reducing the drop-out rate. While we put these new policies into place, our primary goal is to ensure compliance and maintain our good standing with the charters.
Lastly, it is imperative that you read the very bottom section that reads 'URGENT", and we need everyone to participate please.
Please call me if you have any questions or need further explanation.
Thank you,
Michelle Holiday

How Will Families Learn About This?
HSC Website Menu: 'Payments'
**Policies
*Please note that we recommend instructors contact their private pay parents within 24 hours of their student's enrollment to collect either a $50 deposit or the full payment amount. This will hold their student's seat over the summer and hopefully reduce the attrition rate. This policy is now stated on the HSC website under 'Private Pay.' However, it is up to you, the instructor, to decide if you would like to implement either of these suggested payment terms for privately paying families.
**Once the semester begins, we request for instructors to send an invoice to parents with any remaining balance, irrespective if the student withdraws. We will do our best to implement this policy and perhaps it will discourage a student from withdrawing. We are currently rebuilding the Request to Unenroll portion of our database where the system will capture and save the contact information for instructors.
Class Details: 'Payment Terms'
- The tuition, materials fee (if applicable), and the registration fee listed separately.
- The 'Payment Terms' that adds all the fees and displays a grand total for our viewers.
- The exact breakdown of payment installments, with the registration fee collected in the first installment.
- A 'Lump Sum' total to be collected at the start of the term if paying with private funds or if using charter funds from Cabrillo, Granite Mountain, Mission Vista, or Blue Ridge (these sister schools are willing to pay the tuition and fees in full at the start of the semester).
Class Details: 'Additional Payment Information'
The 'Additional Payment Information' is a blank text box located inside the Instructor Portal (select one of your classes and then click on 'view/edit details' to access it). This textbox is for instructors who wish to add any additional verbiage or specific instructions.
For example:
If paying privately, please send payment to:
Venmo: @homeschool
Zelle: 714-555-1212
Etc...
HSC Instructor Billing Cycle
Because we will be collecting the full registration fee in the 1st installment, we will waive all late fees for the month of September and will extend the due date 😃
Instructor Login
The Instructor Login has moved to the HSC main menu under 'Login/Enroll'.
Charter Information
I have been communicating with charter personnel to ensure that HSC will be operating in compliance with the addition of the registration fee. Please see some of their comments below. I asked if their charter would require vendors to update each of their class totals with the addition of the registration fee in their agreement or charter database.
iLead & Excel:
Instructors will not need to alter their pricing agreement. Just be sure that parents add the registration to the P.O. that is sent to the vendor.
SCALE:
Instructors need to login to VOS (Vendor Ordering System) and update each class total amount they are offering at HSC. The class total needs to include the registration fee ($5/live-online class; $15/in-person class).
Cabrillo, Mission Vista, Granite Mountain, Blue Ridge:
Vendors will need to update their listings to include this registration fee in the cost of their services or as another listing to add the registration fee.
Sun Coast:
I am still waiting to get a response but do not anticipate any issues.
URGENT
- 1. We need for EVERY INSTRUCTOR ASAP to login to your Instructor Portal and click on the link that reads, "View/Edit Instructor Profile" (Instructor Login is now located at the top of the HSC website under "Login/Enroll").
- 2. Scroll to where it reads, 'Charters That Pay Tuition Up Front' and check off the charters that you are a vendor with.
This is DIFFERENT than the Charter Affiliation section where it collects every charter that you are a vendor with.
- 3. When finished, click the blue 'Update' button to save your entry.
Thank you everyone!!😅💖
