Treaty Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that Killam Public School is on Treaty 6 territory - the ancestral and traditional land of many Indigenous groups. We are grateful for the animals, the water and the forests that provide us with many resources we use each day. We are thankful for the diverse opportunities that this land offers. We respect the land in which we gather on today.

Staff Spotlight

My name is Kelli Walline. I am an EA in the Grade 1 classroom two days a week. On my alternating days I work at Viking School as an EA in their Kindergarten program. I have an Elementary Education Diploma from Red Deer College.

My husband Trevor works as a truck driver for Trimac out of Hardisty. I have 3 kids, 2 who are grown up, and my youngest attends CHSPS and is currently in Grade 11.

In my spare time I like to take dance classes, spend time with family, and go shopping. A fun fact about me is not only did I attend KPS as a student, my children also attended KPS, and now I am a staff member there. To say I have Kougar Pride is an understatement. I truly believe in relationship based education and I work hard to build relationships with the students so I can be an effective staff member. KPS is a wonderful choice for building foundations for the students' future and I am proud to be a part of it.

How to find Student Verification Forms

Thank you to those families who have completed their student verification forms. Families who have not yet completed these forms recently received an email. To complete your verification forms you will need to go into PowerSchool on a web browser (not the app). On the left hand side, there is a menu. In that menu, closer to the bottom, there is a link to “School Engage”. Click on that link. Once in School Engage, click on “students” on the left hand menu and a list of your students will be available. Click on a student’s name and on the right hand side, there is a menu that will have “Student Enrollment and Verification”. Fill out the form and make the necessary changes before you submit. If you have any questions, please contact the office and Mrs. Brodie will be happy to help you.

Grades K-9 Skating

KPS students will be skating as part of their PE programs from March 4 - 6. All students will need to provide their own hockey or winter sport helmet (sorry, bike helmets are not allowed). The school does have a limited number of skates available for students to borrow.
