Other School News
Thank You for Attending our Veterans Day Program!
Thank you to all of our students and band members who put together such a heartfelt Veterans Day program. Your dedication honored our veterans beautifully and made the morning special in recognizing and celebrating those who have served. A huge thank you to our guest speaker, Chris Morgan, speaking about the meaning and importance of Veterans Day.
Benjamin Rush Middle School Recieves a Purple Star
BRMS is happy to announce that we have been honored as an Indiana Purple Star School! This designation is given to schools that show commitment to service members, veterans, and students and families connected to our nation’s military.
Donation from Mrs. Carolyn Kramer and St. Paul's United Methodist Church
BRMS is grateful for the generous donation of sweatpants for the clinic which is sponsored by Mrs. Carolyn Kramer and St. Paul's United Methodist Church! Last year they also sponsored winter hats and coats for BRMS students. We are very thankful for the amazing support St. Paul's United Methodist Church continues to give to our BRMS students each year!

BRMS Food and Drink Expectations
There have been some concerns brought to my attention about the BRMS expectations for food and drinks throughout the school day. This message is to address those concerns and explain what our policy is on this!
Students are not permitted to consume food in the hallways, classrooms, or locker bay areas without permission from a teacher. Water is the only beverage permitted to be consumed in classrooms, hallways, and locker bays during school hours.
BRMS Student Handbook:
FOOD AND DRINKS
"Food is to remain in the cafeteria area only. Students may possess a water bottle. All water bottles must contain only water. Students may not bring water bottles into the Computer Labs. Students must abide by individual classroom policies. Allowing students to carry around a water bottle is a privilege. Misuse may lead to that student being unable to have a water bottle in class. Glass bottles are not to be permitted in the building. Students requiring food or drink, beyond water, for medical reasons, should obtain permission in advance from the school nurse and/or administrator."
Research also shows significant health concerns tied to the consumption of energy drinks by adolescents. Therefore, energy drinks are not to be consumed at Benjamin Rush Middle School.

Important Reminders
Parents/Guardians of Students on Bus 29:
Please note that beginning Monday, November 4, Bus 29 will begin pickup in the morning ten
minutes earlier than what pickup has been in the past. Tim Wehr will still be your child’s driver on Bus 29, locations will remain the same, with the only change being 10 minutes earlier for pickup.
8th Grade Washington DC Trip Candle Fundraiser
Any 8th grade student going on the Rock the Capital Tour to Gettysburg and Washington D.C. next
spring who did not make the candle fundraiser meeting, but would like to sell candles should pick up an order form from Mr. Wise.
Lions Shack Food Pantry
The Lions Shack Food Pantry located at RCHS will now be open twice a month (except for January) on the first and third Thursdays from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The pantry is open for all teachers, staff, and
families who attend or work in Rush County Schools.
Changes to ILEARN for the 2024-2025 School Year
Please note that BRMS has opted to help the state pilot new changes for the ILEARN state assessment. Instead of taking one end-of-year assessment, we will take 3 checkpoint assessments through the year and then the end-of year assessment. Please see this FLYER with more parent information and links to resources from the Indiana Department of Education.
