Important Reminders
Eighth Grade Scheduling for RCHS Classes
RCHS counselors will visit BRMS during eighth period on Tuesday, January 14, to speak to eighth grade students about scheduling classes at RCHS. Students will receive a scheduling packet and an appointment time and date for individual scheduling with an RCHS counselor during the week of January 20 through January 24. Parents are welcome to attend their student’s scheduling appointment, but are not required to do so. Eighth grade students and parents are invited to Freshmen Orientation at RCHS on Wednesday, January 15, at 6:00 p.m.
World’s Finest Chocolate Fundraiser
Benjamin Rush Middle School is conducting a fundraiser that will benefit our student rewards program and other student activities. Forty percent of all fundraiser sales will go to the school. Without fundraiser activities like this we would not be able to offer incentive-based rewards to our students. You may help by agreeing to purchase a box of 30 chocolate bars to sell at work or to family members and friends. The chocolate bars sell for $2.00 each, equaling $60 in sales, resulting in $24 fundraiser profit for our school.
If you are interested in participating, please sign the attached permission form and return it to the school office with a check for $60. When the school receives the permission form and your check, we will provide you with a box of World’s Finest Chocolate. Please make checks payable to Benjamin Rush Middle School. Letters and permission slips will be sent home with students on Monday, January 13th, with more information and prize details for sales.
Changes to ILEARN for the 2024-2025 School Year
Please note that BRMS has opted to help the state pilot new changes for the ILEARN state assessment. Instead of taking one end-of-year assessment, we will take 3 checkpoint assessments through the year and then the end-of year assessment. Please see this FLYER with more parent information and links to resources from the Indiana Department of Education.
Lions Shack Food Pantry
The Lions Shack Food Pantry located at RCHS will now be open twice a month (except for January) on the first and third Thursdays from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The pantry is open for all teachers, staff, and
families who attend or work in Rush County Schools.
Athletic Events
BRMS Wrestling
Jeff Ernstes, driver of Bus 51, will transport BRMS athletes to RCHS for wrestling after school when
practices begin at 4:00 p.m. Athletes participating in wrestling should ride Bus 51 to RCHS as practices and meets are scheduled.
BRMS Cheer Block
The boys basketball teams will face Greenfield Central on Wednesday, January 22, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Cheer Block members in attendance will receive a hand clapper to Make Some NOISE!
You must have a current physical on file at BRMS in order to participate in any sport. Physical forms are available in the sports information kiosk in the lobby, along with athletic schedules and calendars. Please see Mrs. Maranda Marcum, Mr. Brown, or Mr. Sliger in the athletic office behind the stage in the cafeteria if you have questions about BRMS athletics.
