Late Arrival Attendance and Check Out Procedures
Attendance Number: 531-299-2669
Reminders from the Attendance Office:
- If your child needs to leave for an appointment, please give us a call at 531-299-2669 at least 30 minutes before you pick up your child. This will give us time to get your child from class and be ready to send them out to you.
- If you do not call before 2:15pm, please come in the building to check out your student.
- If your child arrives to school between 7:41 and 9:05 they are to go directly to their 1st block class and use the QR code to check in for the day. This is important so their attendance is recorded accurately. Please encourage your child to complete the process.
- If your child arrives to school after 9:05 they should check in the attendance office before going to class. Please remind them to do this so we can record attendance accurately.
- Doctor notes must be turned into the office within 7 days of the absence to be marked as an excused medical absence.
Well done, Eagles! Keep it up! Every minute counts!
First Semester Final Exams
Counseling Notes
A reminder from CHS AP Coordinator, Mrs. Angie Meyer
Thursday, October 31, is the last day for students to order AP Exams. Students need to change UNDECIDED to YES in their MyAP classroom and then their exam will be ordered. There is no cost for AP Exams this year unless a student does not show up at the scheduled exam time. This is a great opportunity to earn possible college credit at zero cost. Questions? email angela.meyer@ops.org
PreACT for Freshmen and Sophomores on October 22, 2024
Congratulations to our freshmen and sophomores who participated in PreACT 8/9 and PreACT testing this week! Testing has now concluded, materials have been shipped back to ACT, and results should be delivered to Central High prior to Winter Break.
Thank you for your support of Eagle excellence on test day. The students did a wonderful job.

Freshman Pathway Showcase Night
Freshman Families – Please Join Us for Pathways Showcase Night on October 30, 2024
Freshman and their families are invited to this year’s Pathways Showcase Night on Wednesday, October 30 at 5:30-7:00 in the Central High Courtyard. This event helps prepare students for Pathways selection in December. For their remaining three years of high school, students’ Pathways will impact their course selection for one elective each semester, learning opportunities outside of the classroom, and their capstone project during their senior year.
Finding a good Pathways fit early on is important to students’ high school experience. At Pathways Showcase Night, freshmen will be able to explore displays and speak with teachers and current students from the different Pathways. Many of our community partners will also be there to talk about college and career opportunities available in their fields. It is a valuable and informative event.
For families new to Pathways, the presentation provided to freshmen on Eagles Take Flight Day may be useful: Eagles Take Flight Day Freshman Assembly.pptx.
We look forward to seeing you on 10/30!
Nutrition Services: Deli Sandwich Line
Starting Monday, October 28, 2024
Beginning next week in our cafeteria, we will open up a third lunch line. In this line, students will be able to make their own deli sandwiches. This line will also offer parfaits and salads. No hot entree menu items will be available in the sandwich line. The courtyard will continue to serve pre-made sandwiches, salads and parfaits in both lines.

Featured Department: Special Education
The Special Education Department serves approximately 350 students at Central High School through our integrated special education services and our alternate curriculum program (ACP). Special Instruction teachers do a variety of tasks for our students everyday including serving as case managers, teaching/co-teaching classes, assess student learning and behavior, completing and processing paperwork and liaising with many different teachers throughout the day. We are supported by a team of nine paras and a secretary. Our paras help students with schoolwork, behavior skills, data collection and preparing materials for our students. As we come to the end of the quarter, our staff will be preparing progress reports for each of our students as an important piece of communication to our parents and guardians. It’s not all academics and data, though. The ACP folks get to have fun, teach, and learn through the “Guys in Ties” coffee cart coming through every 2B for the those who were lucky enough to snag a subscription.

Drop off and Pick Up
Thank you for your help with morning drop off on 22nd and James Fous St in the morning. We appreciate your cooperation so our students can be dropped off safely.
- Slow down and remember to stop at the security guard and wait for direction. Students are crossing and safety is our first concern.
- When dropping off on James Fous there are two lanes. To keep traffic flowing please have your student be ready to get out of your vehicle quickly. You will then turn north onto 22nd Street. You do not need to be in the front of the line for your student to exit the vehicle. Anything you can do to speed up the process is good for all Central families.
- Parent vehicles are not permitted in the faculty/staff lot at drop off and pick up.
