LHS Attendance

Systems of Engagement 2022
What are the Systems of Engagement?
Every school year, the Lincoln High School Systems of Engagement (SOE) team evaluates student engagement on a weekly basis, identifying students who are struggling to consistently engage in school. Lincoln High School will be partnering again with City of Manitowoc to engage students in learning by supporting high levels of attendance.
How will LHS Measure Engagement?
Each week, various student reports will be evaluated in order to determine which students may be in need of additional support. Our ultimate goal is to increase their engagement in school by improving attendance, improving academic participation and performance, or both. Students who have numerous unexcused absences will enter our SOE process.
How do Students Earn Unexcused Absences?
A student is not in their assigned class during an assigned period.
What are the Supports (Tiers of Intervention) that will Occur if My Student Enters SOE?
Tier #1 - LHS will place an initial courtesy Robo-Call generated through our Infinite Campus student information system that will alert parents and guardians when their student has accumulated multiple unexcused absences.
Tier #2 - If Tier #1 is unsuccessful in improving attendance, students will work with their school counselor, IEP case manager, or EL case manager to develop a personalized learning plan to determine any support necessary to improve engagement.
Tier #3 - If Tier #2 is not successful in improving attendance Lincoln Administrators will schedule a student and parent meeting, which will occur face to face or via Google Meet. The purpose of this meeting will be to review and revise the plan built in Tier #2 and to communicate what the next steps may be in the event that your student’s engagement does not improve.
Tier #4 - In the event that Tier #3 is not successful, students/families will receive a text notification that they are nearing the end of our systems of support. This will serve as a final warning prior to the student receiving a citation.
Tier #5 - If there is a lack of engagement in the above Tiers of support and lack of communication with school personnel, the student can receive a habitual truancy fine for $439. Students that receive the fine will be automatically enrolled in the truancy buy back program. Students that come back to school will earn money back each day they attend school, reducing the amount owed.
