NES students learned about the attribute of 'adapt" during our Panther Way Day on February 28. Students continue to learn about the Panther Way attributes this year as we have highlighted five of the six attributes so far. During our assembly, students listened to Mike Gegick, a local amputee and how he has had to adapt his life after an accident at work forced him to lose a portion of his leg. Mike's inspirational story highlighted the fact that after making adaptations and a lot of practice, he now is able to continue his favorite hobbies like golfing. After the assembly, students participated in classroom activities that forced them to think about how to adapt to various situations and even had to make adaptations to "simple" tasks like eating, drawing, and cutting with their non-dominant hand.

Norton Elementary students and families had the opportunity to attend a Cleveland Cavaliers game in February. Over 40 students and families joined together to cheer on the Cavs as they beat the Minnesota Timberwolves. While at the game, students participated in the fan tunnel experience where they could greet players as they entered the court. We appreciate the families that took advantage of this opportunity and joined us for this shared experience!

Top sellers from each grade (preschool-4th grade) will earn fun incentives, including the chance to be Principal for the Day!

Parent conferences will held on Thursday, March 13 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Please contact your teacher directly if you are interested in a conference. As always, parents can reach out to teachers to schedule a morning conference any time of year.

As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, effective immediately, all individuals who volunteer in Norton City Schools are required to undergo a comprehensive background check. This process helps to ensure that we are providing the safest possible learning environment for our students. Background checks will be required for all volunteers, including those attending class parties, field trips, and working in the building. The district may not accept previous background checks or background checks provided by your employer and prefers background checks completed by the district itself. Please follow the process below to register as a volunteer.

To cover the cost associated with conducting these background checks, the district will charge volunteers a fee of $25, which is the actual cost incurred by Norton City Schools. Background checks are valid for five years. We appreciate the dedication of our volunteers and thank you for your understanding of this necessary procedure.

All yearbooks will arrive to the school in May and will be distributed to classrooms. The deadline for ordering is April 17th, 2025.

Please consider keeping a change of clothes in your child's locker for accidents and/or recess slips and falls. Summer clothes may need to be changed out for warmer clothes.
