The Wallin Way Weekly Newsletter
October 18th, 2024
Good Evening K9 Families,
We’ve had an exciting and eventful week here at school! Last Friday, the Plainfield Fire Department visited our kindergarten students, and this week, they returned to meet with our Star Plus and Select classes—our students loved it! Ms. Wold's class celebrated with a Glow Party after they met all their class expectations—way to go! We were also lucky to have guest author David Biedrzycki visit, treating our Kindergarten through 3rd-grade students to an engaging performance and interactive reading. A big shout out to our amazing PTA for making this event happen and bringing smiles to our students’ faces!
We also came together for Unity Day, with our staff and students proudly wearing orange to stand against bullying and show kindness to one another. It was a powerful reminder of the positive community we continue to build here.
We have lots of exciting events and opportunities coming up! Check out the details below about how to get involved in our Veteran's Day Assembly, our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences, how to purchase Art to Remember pieces, and how to get tickets for our Shop with a Cop raffle competition. Please continue reading the newsletter for more information!
We hope you all have a fantastic weekend and can’t wait to see everyone back next week for more exciting learning and fun!

Pick Up and Drop Off Reminders
Morning Drop Off
We kindly ask that families do not park at Ira Jones when dropping off students. Please be sure to pull into the designated car line to ensure a safe and smooth drop-off process for everyone. Following this procedure helps keep traffic flowing and ensures the safety of all students.
Afternoon Pick Up
Please remember to turn off your car while waiting to pick up your student after school. Running cars pose a safety risk for students and teachers walking up and down the car lines, and it's also important to reduce the fumes in the air for everyone’s health. Thank you for helping us keep our school environment safe and healthy!
Veteran's Day Assembly
We’re excited to host an assembly on Veteran's Day and are looking for guest speakers! If you’d like to be a part of our event, please CLICK HERE or click the button below to express your interest!

Parent-Teacher Conferences Information
Parent-teacher communication is vital to the success of your child’s education and we encourage ongoing communication throughout the school year.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for November 1st from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and November 4th from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Parents will have the ability to choose from available times to meet with teachers using the website PTCFast.com. Please enter the following web address into your web browser window:
https://www.ptcfast.com/schools/Wallin_Oaks_Elementary
You will see a list of all of the teachers at Wallin Oaks organized by grade level and alphabetized by last name.
Begin by choosing one conference: check the box next to your student’s teacher, then follow the link at the bottom to register your name and contact information. This will create a registration for the website, and you will be sent a confirmation email with a link to choose appointment times. On that same page, you will then be able to add additional conferences, change your registration, or change/add additional appointments.
If you need an interpreter for your child’s parent-teacher conference, please complete the following form by 10/18/24: https://forms.gle/EfBLab5tnHwy9Pbj7
Thank you for your understanding and support as we strive to serve our students and families as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Art to Remember Purchases!
Good afternoon lovely K9 grown-ups!
Miss LaMonica, again! Just an update to let you know that all artwork has been loaded onto our school website for purchase. You can purchase your tiny artist's beautiful keepsakes directly on the website by searching for their first and last name OR you can wait for order forms to go home with your student on October 15th and search via your order form number. If for some reason, their artwork is not loaded on the website... please let me know via email at ELaMonic@psd202.org. If your student's artwork is not on the website, there's a chance it was not completed in time at school or it could be an error on my part. If that is the case, you can still submit them from home at any time. In my last email, I sent directions on how to upload artworks from home. I saw quite a few of you make use of that, so THANK YOU!
Our school's website: https://arttoremember.com/school/C8SQAX
All orders must be placed by Tuesday, October 29th. You will hear from me again with an estimate for when orders will be arriving. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to anyone who decides to place an order. Not only does it benefit the art program at Wallin Oaks Elementary, but it is a forever keepsake that could ignite a spark in your student to keep their creativity alive for years to come.
Any questions? Please reach out!
Happy shopping!
Miss Emma LaMonica
PTA Volunteer Opportunities!
Grade Level Party Volunteering: If you are interested in volunteering/attending, please find an available slot under your child's grade. The parties are during the day and are 35 minutes long. If the spots are full, there will be a winter party in December and a glow party in March. You can choose a station and help explain rules to students/assist students as needed. Please note that younger siblings are not permitted for safety reasons. If you have multiple children at Wallin Oaks, you may sign up for multiple grades but please only one family member per grade.
